The duo of James Wan and Jason Momoa were able to revamp the campy character from the DC comics into a Badass hero in 2018’s Aquaman. With its sequel releasing at the end of 2023, fans are excited to witness the new installment, which will eventually mark the end of the long-struggling DCEU.
With the Super Bowl just weeks away, fans have been expecting to witness some news about their favorite movies. And a substantial portion of the audience is expecting to witness the trailer for the upcoming Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, starring Jason Momoa at the forefront.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom may mark the end of Jason Momoa as Arthur
The 2023 slate of DC comprises numerous movies involving Shazam! Fury of the Gods, Blue Beetle, The Flash and Aquaman, and the Lost Kingdom, but the future of these characters in the new DCU is uncertain. But among all of them, the most prominent-looking movie seems to be the James Wan-led Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.
James Gunn and Peter Safran have been adamant about scrapping the scattered universe and pulling the plugs from the dying DCEU and forming their new DCU more cohesively. And even though the 2018 Aquaman was the highest-grossing movie in the DCEU, the future of the character after the sequel appears to be unresolved following the change in leadership in DC studios.
And with the recent rumors of Jason Momoa being recast as Lobo moving forward in the new DCU, James Wan’s sequel may mark the end of Jason Momoa’s reign as the King of Atlantis. The sequel will also mark the end of the long-struggling DCEU, which was on a slow spiral of death since BVS.

Fans expect to witness a trailer for the Aquaman Sequel at the Super Bowl
Fans are still expecting to witness a trailer for the upcoming Aquaman sequel at the Super Bowl, which is just 2 weeks away. Although DC appears to be scrapping the old DCEU with the release of Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, fans are still excited about James Wan’s movie.
Even though the movie may not have a connection with the newly envisioned DCU, a substantial portion of fans are excited to witness Jason Momoa as the King of Atlantis. Even though the actor may drop the mantle of the character after the sequel, fans believe that James Wan’s sequel will be one of the better DCEU movies and end the universe on a high note.
