Starfield has been the target of many controversies from even before was released. Due to the level of polish and quality the developers promised, people have been intentionally subjecting the game to immense scrutiny. It’s one of the biggest Xbox exclusives in 2023 and the most anticipated game this year. Bethesda has a history of their games filled with bugs and glitches but sometimes it’s the imperfections that players like about the title.

One of the designer developers of Cyberpunk 2077 raised his opinions about these comparisons on Twitter and called them “useless criticism”. It’s rather challenging for a new title to be released and not be subjected to some kind of controversy, especially if the game is of high scale and a lot of people are anticipating it.

Some players have been hating on Starfield ever since the game was released. They have been finding reasons to contradict Bethesda’s claim regarding this RPG and prove why Starfield feels dated and isn’t able to compete with other RPGs. There have been several clips from the game circulating on the internet. Those videos are trying to show the differences between Starfield and Cyberpunk 2077′s in-game mechanics and systems.

The guest designer of Cyberpunk 2077, Patrick K. Mills expressed his opinion regarding these online criticisms being talked over the internet and how these kinds of videos aren’t helpful and can be perceived as “actively harmful”. “… “This fake criticism is actively harmful to the way the audience interacts with the medium and I hate it, but it’s very funny to see after how many hundreds of these were made to ridicule [Cyberpunk 2077].”

Mills said that these videos do nothing but serve as negative criticism and termed it as “useless criticism”. Comparing different aspects between two games isn’t productive in any manner. “There’s no commentary, just a handful of features being compared. What’s the meaning of this comparison? How does this relate to how I should feel about or experience these games? Useless criticism.”

Compared to previous Bethesda titles, Starfield is significantly far less glitchy. Despite having over 1,000 planets for players to explore, this game shows high object permanence. Players can interact with most of the objects in the environment. There are a ton of events happening all around the world like NPCs roaming around or Wildlife activities. Players can interact with any shop and consider all these offerings, Starfield is much more stable than people expected it to be. Bethesda also revealed how some of the bugs were intentional in the game.
