When Salma Hayek Was Left Freezing In The Cold

In a 2006 interview with Radio Free, The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard actress revealed that while shooting that scene, she got a little bit of hypothermia. Talking about the conditions of the scene, Hayek revealed that she drank a special drink to help keep her warm but it didn’t help much, and how she was trying to act comfortable but she wasn’t.

“It was freezing. [It was] freezing, unbearable, cold. And I got a little bit of hypothermia. They were really careful. We had to take special drinks that would keep our body heated. I mean, we had to prepare physically to do the scene because it was so cold…I act comfortable, but I was not. And as a matter of fact, I was really nervous because this is not the one scene that I wanted to do, you know, and it was cold”.

Being uncomfortable meant that the scene couldn’t be shot the way they wanted it to be. Colin Farrell had a brilliant idea to uplift the mood of Salma Hayek and it did work. The catch was that Farrell had to get completely naked for that idea.

She further continued,

“And I started laughing…It was the most ridiculous thing. Everybody started laughing. And he did it to relax me, because I was really tense”.

Ask the Dust received a rating of 5.7/10 on IMDB and a low of 35% on Rotten Tomatoes. The 2006 film is available to rent on Apple TV+ in the U.S.
