Throughout his career, Sylvester Stallone has been a part of various successful franchises, and at 77 years old, he believes it’s good to go out on a high note. Consequently, he thinks Rambo 6 might not be a good idea. While the saga was indeed a great hit, and he takes pride in the work he has done, Stallone acknowledges that his age plays a crucial role, particularly in action-packed movies like this. Despite his efforts to provide audiences with new plots and interesting stories in each entry, he feels it’s time for at least this soldier to come home and take some well-deserved rest.

Sylvester Stallone Advocates for Rambo’s Well-Earned Retirement

With the last entry of the Rambo franchise coming in 2019 and proving relatively successful, fans have been eagerly anticipating Sylvester Stallone to reprise his role as the iconic character and set the theaters on fire for the sixth time. However, Stallone has finally chosen to speak his mind, explaining that while he appreciates all the love and support from his fans, he feels it’s time for Rambo to retire, primarily due to his age. At the Toronto International Film Festival, the actor made this revelation,

“Rambo, I could leave him. He’s done pretty much, even though they want to do another one, but what am I fighting? Arthritis?”

The actor jokingly mentioned how he’s running out of things to fight, and soon, with his age, it wouldn’t look justified when he does the Superman heavy lifting in the movie. Overall, judging by the actor’s tone, he seems pretty much done with the movie, expressing pride in the entire franchise, especially Rambo 4, unlike Cobra. Consequently, he would like to keep it undisturbed so that only good memories are associated with the franchise.

Given the saga’s popularity, the producers, strictly considering the business viewpoint, might contemplate reviving the franchise. However, the catch is that since Sylvester Stallone believes he has already fulfilled his time as the character, the saga could likely progress without the star.

In a conversation with Comingsoon.net, Kevin King-Templeton and Les Weldon revealed,

“The same. Rambo. I mean, there’s several different franchises that we’re on, and we’re thinking about for the future. And as well as new projects. You know, it’s, again, it becomes a matter of if, if there is a demand from the fan base, we’ll be the first ones to jump on there”

They further continued stating,

“Sometimes Kevin and I will say, “well, I don’t know if there’s gonna be another.” And then the demand comes up, and people are asking, and asking and asking. Buyers are asking, and that was the case with this. And so we took this very seriously to develop this, you know, so that we would do it right. And yeah. And give them something they wanted”

And so, Stallone hinted in a The Hollywood Reporter interview that while he desires to create a “Ken Burns documentary on Vietnam,” Rambo 6 could potentially have a modern spin to the tale where Stallone passes the torch to a worthy successor.
