The photo shoot required the two celebrities to pose in underwear and shirtless. In July 2022, Moss appeared on BBC Radio 4’s Desert Island Discs podcast and explained that she felt objectified.

“He was very macho, and it was all about him. He had a big entourage. I was just this kind of model.” Host Lauren Laverne then asked her, “You felt objectified?” Moss then replied, “Yeah, completely. And vulnerable and scared. I think they played on my vulnerability. I was quite young and innocent, so Calvin loved that.”

A lot of new models try to land a deal with Calvin Klein even today as it helps them in gaining popularity and recognition so more people hire them.

The model had to take Valium

Further in the interview, Moss explained that she had “severe anxiety” right before the shoot and her doctor had to prescribe her Valium so she can deal with it. The model said,

“I really didn’t feel well at all before the shoot. For like, a week or two, I couldn’t get out of bed.”

Since she wasn’t really that famous back then, she didn’t have enough power to call up Calvin Klein and tell them that she wants to reschedule the shoot. However, today, she is one of the most iconic and influential models in the history of fashion. Her contributions to the industry have left a lasting impact, inspiring a new generation of models and reshaping the definition of beauty in fashion.

“I never really had a problem with Kate, did I? I think I was probably a little rough around the edges. Kind of doing my thing. I wasn’t very… worldly, let’s say that. But I’ve seen her and said hello. I think we saw each other at a concert here and there, we said hi and exchanged pleasantries.”

Kate Moss also told Vanity Fair that she had a “nervous breakdown” when she had to work with Mark Wahlberg.
