Matthew Vaughn is famously known for directing Kingsman: The Secret Service and The Golden Circle. However, before that, the director had worked in the X-Men franchise. Being the director of X-Men: First Class, Vaughn realized the film-making industry and how there were hidden secrets.

Starring alongside Josh Horowitz in the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Vaughn talked about his experience shooting the 2011 film. The director also talked about the Halle Berry script and how it was just going to be dumped. Name-dropping filmmaker Bryan Singer in the mix, Matthew Vaughn felt that he wouldn’t pick the franchise again!

“I was naive because I didn’t realize that they would actually give me much more time and money to solve it. I wasn’t comfortable with… I mean some of the lies and I mean, it was total lies about casting and the way they were dealing with other actors”

As the interview further progressed, Matthew Vaughn further revealed what these lies were specifically. While name-dropping Halle Berry and disgraced director Bryan Singer, Vaughn revealed that it was just chaos in the industry!

Talking about people in the industry, Matthew Vaughn mentioned the Halle Berry script that was just displayed for a show. As the interview continued, the acclaimed director also talked about Bryan Singer and why he had to eventually leave the X-Men franchise again.

“It was so bad, I found a script called the ‘Halle Berry draft’ and I was like ‘Wow! What is this?’ Because it’s starting off in Ethiopia with Storm creating rain and I’m like ‘Are we doing this?’ and they’re like ‘No, no, no, don’t worry. Once you sign on, that’s going in the bin'”

Vaughn also talked about the supremacy that Bryan Singer had at that time and how he had written almost the entire script for X-Men: Days of Future Past but the studio was waiting for Singer. After Singer joined in, Vaughn retired from the franchise to direct the 2014 masterpiece, Kingsman: The Secret Service. The 2014 movie is available to stream on Max in the U.S.
