Harrison Ford is a legend without par. The Han Solo of Star Wars might have ended his tenure in that franchise, but there’s still one movie left in the other franchise he is famous for Indiana Jones. The 80-year-old actor has hinted that it’s the last time he is appearing in the globe-trotting adventure films.
The fifth film in the franchise- Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny had its U.S. premiere in LA and Ford couldn’t help but express his real feelings about starring in the Indiana Jones films over the course of four decades. So will the star miss the films? Not really.
Harrison Ford Isn’t Upset About Indiana Jones 5 Being His Last Foray As The Character
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Harrison Ford reflected on four decades of Indiana Jones and what the franchise has given him. While The Mosquito Coast actor was grateful for the opportunities playing Indy gave him, he isn’t going to miss it. Ford said:
“I don’t think I’m going to miss anything. I appreciate all of the opportunities that the character has given me. I have been very grateful and I have enjoyed myself for the 42 years that we’ve been making these.”
The actor also explained that these films have allowed him to entertain a wider audience globally. But most of all, the success of the franchise has let him choose the kinds of projects he wants to do rather than has to do. The star said:
“The success of these movies have really given me not only a chance to satisfy a broad audience, but they’ve given me a freedom; because of their success, they’ve given me freedom in my chosen profession.”
It’s increasingly looking like Indiana Jones 5 is going to be the last film in the franchise that will feature Harrison Ford. So how was the last day on the set for him?

Mads Mikkelsen plays the villain in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny. He revealed that Harrison Ford’s last day on the set was beautiful and he was given a send-off worthy of his stature. He said:
“We were there when he did his last take on his last scene and just watching him up there being applauded, he wanted to leave and just get out of there but he also wanted to stay there forever. It was quite beautiful to watch.”
Director James Mangold too admitted that he wanted the final chapter in Harrison Ford’s Indiana Jones saga to honor the actor’s legacy. He said he wanted the film to be “something of quality that represents the kind of integrity that his legacy of work represents.” The film had its world premiere in Cannes, where it got mixed reactions from critics. It now remains to be seen how audiences respond to it.
Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny arrives in theaters on June 30.
