Bob Odenkirk is the unlikeliest of action heroes we have come to admire in the last few years. Fans mostly know and love Odenkirk as the witty and unscrupulous lawyer from the world of Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul. But in the last few years, the actor has shown us a different side to himself, when he starred in the action drama Nobody. And now, he is back with yet another action movie for his fans.
WME Independent will launch sales at Berlin’s European Film Market next week for Derek Kolstad’s next directorial venture, Normal. Kolstad previously worked with Bob Odenkirk on Nobody (2021), which became a surprise hit during the pandemic era. And now the duo is set to bring us yet another action thriller.
Bob Odenkirk Returns to Action Movies
Bob Odenkirk is an actor’s actor. And even if the Emmys won’t admit to his brilliance, we sure do. David Kolstad, who wrote Nobody and also penned the John Wick franchise, has written Odenkirk’s next venture, Normal, where the actor plays the character of Ulysses- “the substitute teacher of the sheriff world.”
Odenkirk said (via THR),
“The story has a quality to it that I don’t think I’ve seen in an action movie in forever,” He compared Normal to “early Bourne movies” that have “M. Night Shyamalan level of suspense and mystery.”
Meg 2 director Ben Wheatly is set to direct this action thriller, where Odenkirk plays the sheriff in charge. And then the story unfolds when in the quaint town of Normal, a robbery takes place.
More on Normal – The Movie
The movie’s plot revolved around the sheriff-in-charge, Ulysses, played by Bob Odenkirk, who is running away from his past demons. He now looks after the town of Normal after the sudden death of the town’s original sheriff. But a bank robbery in Normal leads Ulysses to discover a criminal conspiracy at the heart of the quaint town, where he realizes that everyone – from the bartender to the priest – is in on it. And now he must get to the bottom of this conspiracy to find the truth.
Normal will be a mystery action thriller with Bob Odenkirk’s character in the middle of it all. With David Kolstad penning the story and Ben Wheatly in the director’s chair, fans are hoping for some really good action sequences. Marc Provissiero will produce the movie alongside Odenkirk and Kolstad.
