Josh Brolin spoke to Variety about his poetry collection and how they were a reaction to his time on the sets of the film franchise. He said,

“The writing is very different, tonally. Sometimes it’s tongue-in-cheek, sometimes it’s descriptive, sometimes it’s a dialogue and sometimes it’s a poem…I’ve been writing this book, and there are 95,000 words that I’m cutting down into something edible.”

The book reportedly comes out on February 13 and limited editions of the book will reportedly contain a print of Brolin, Timothée Chalamet, and Zendaya. The book was also numbered and signed by Greg Frasier and Brolin.

From his poetry collection Dune: Exposures, Josh Brolin’s poem on co-star and protagonist of Dune Timothée Chalamet has been making the rounds on the Internet. The poem, which was released by the X (formerly Twitter) account Discussing Film, sees Josh Brolin describing the face of Chalamet and his eyes, while also referring to Brolin’s old age.

“Your face is etched by/ adolescence. Your cheekbones jump toward/ what are youth-laden eyes that slide down/ a prominent nose and onto lips of certain poetry./ And the way that you hold my gaze/makes me fear my own age/ because something in me tells me/ you are going to offer me something, and/ for now,/ I’m not sure/ it’s going to be/ something/ I want anymore.”

While the poem may have been written in complete innocence, it has been making fans on the Internet uncomfortable. Many were quick to point out that the age difference between the actors made the descriptions of Chalamet’s face, eyes, and lips very weird and creepy. Fans also pointed out that it was weird for Josh Brolin to write something about his co-worker and that it was not professional. The meaning behind the last few lines was also speculated.

With the book releasing soon, it is to be seen what else he has written about his co-stars, who are some of Hollywood’s biggest A-listers at the moment. While Brolin’s attempt could be completely innocent and an extension of his poet character in the Dune films, fans still seemed to opine that the poem went too far.
