Now, the magic continues, but with a superhero twist. Marvel is delving deeper into the mystical realm with “Agatha”. The show will feature several magic users and thus fans expect their favorite Harry Potter actors to somehow show up in the MCU. However, recent casting news nixes one such potential actor from the wizarding franchise.

Miriam Margolyes is an English and Australian actress known for quite a few roles. However, many fans know her for the Harry Potter franchise where she played the role of Professor Sprout. Besides her acting talent, Margolyes has also authored three books including her autobiography, Oh Miriam, which launched in September 2023.

In the book, the 82-year-old actress mentioned that was offered a role in Marvel’s Agatha. However, she turned down the role as the two parties could not reach a financial agreement. Further, the series was to be shot in Georgia, and Margolyes is not a huge fan of America. She revealed details of the incident in an interview with News.Com.Au.

“They contacted me and said, ‘we’re doing a story about witches’. I thought, ‘oh god, not witches again, because I’ve done that with Harry Potter’.”

“I don’t like America and I didn’t want to be in Georgia for four months,” she said. “So I just said, ‘well, I want a million pounds (A$1.9 million)’ and they said, ‘you can have half a million’, and I said, ‘no, I don’t want to do it’, so it just stopped.” “Really it’s a story about my own greed rather than anything else”

Margolyes was not very interested in the role of a witch because she had already done that in the past. It is just a testament to her passion where she is always excited to pick up new challenges.

Fans knew something was fishy when Kathryn Hahn showed up as the friendly neighbor in WandaVision. At last, it was revealed that it was Agatha all along responsible for the mess in the series, and a new show featuring the character was then announced.

At the Disney+ Day in 2021, the show was announced with the name Agatha: House of Harkness. For some reason, Marvel did not find the name fitting and changed it to Agatha: Coven of Chaos by mid-2022.

Things took a darker turn with Agatha: Darkhold Diaries, suggesting Agatha might be spending quality time with a certain ancient, evil grimoire. Marvel has so many name options for the series that it apparently has now changed the name to only Agatha, as mentioned on the official Disney+ page.
