Marvel is bringing back Ayelet Zurer as Vanessa Fisk after initially recasting the role for Daredevil: Born Again. When the reboot was announced, it was revealed that some characters from the original series would return. Vanessa Fisk was one of the major characters who had been recast, with Sandrine Holt taking on the role.
However, recent reports and on-set photos of the reboot have confirmed that Zurer will be reprising her role in the upcoming series alongside Vincent D’Onofrio.
Ayelet Zurer is Reprising Her Role in Daredevil: Born Again
The highly anticipated Marvel series Daredevil: Born Again underwent significant changes in its creative overhaul when the studio dismissed the show’s writers and directors near the end of the previous year. Following this shake-up, Elden Henson and Deborah Ann Woll returned to their respective roles as Foggy Nelson and Karen Page.
The new set images from the production have revealed that Ayelet Zurer, who originally portrayed Vanessa Fisk in the Netflix series, is returning to reprise her character after the creative overhaul. These on-set photos featured the 54-year-old actress alongside Vincent D’Onofrio, who is also reprising his role as Wilson Fisk, aka Kingpin.
Initial reports had indicated that Sandrine Holt had been cast in the role, leading to speculation that Zurer would not be involved in the reboot. Zurer had also expressed her disappointment at not being part of the project, stating that she is “sad to not take part” in the reboot.
Zurer previously portrayed the character from 2015 to 2018 and received acclaim for her performance alongside D’Onofrio. Their on-screen relationship was depicted as intricate and captivating, with Vanessa’s enigmatic yet elegant demeanor complementing Fisk’s commanding presence.

You have to give Marvel credit for this, they really got everybody back together. This means that they think Daredevil Born Again will be a success since they also brought back the original screenwriters. They know it's a hype market and they plan to capitalize.

Many fans also pointed out that Zurer had initially withdrawn from reprising her role in Daredevil: Born Again due to scheduling conflicts, as she was busy with the second season of the AMC+ sci-fi series Moonhaven.
Others, however, voiced concern for Sandrine Holt, feeling that she was unfairly treated by being recast unnecessarily, only for the role to be reverted to Zurer. “I feel like they mistreated her,” one fan said. Many expressed their desire to still see Holt in the series in a different role.
In addition to Zurer, Charlie Cox’s reboot Marvel series is also slated to feature the return of Vincent D’Onofrio as Kingpin, Jon Bernthal as The Punisher, Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, and Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson. The filmmaking duo of Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead have been working on the series since the creative overhaul.
Daredevil: Born Again is expected to premiere in 2025 on Disney+.
