The upcoming Daredevil: Born Again series is set to have the return of iconic foes Kingpin and Daredevil after their hugely successful run in Netflix’s Daredevil series. With the events of the previous series now being canon, plus the show’s placement in the MCU, fans are excited to witness how the characters will evolve and the type of conflict that will arise between them.
After the events of Echo, it was clear that Kingpin would be running for the position of Mayor in New York. It seems like Wilson Fisk will have a whole new rise to power with his Mayoral position, as a new theory suggests that he will ensure that no kind of vigilantism exists with the employment of a lethal task force.
Mayor Kingpin Will Reportedly Put an End to Street-Level Vigilantism in the MCU
Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin is set to return after this year’s Echo in the upcoming Daredevil: Born Again series. As expected, he will be butting heads yet again with Charlie Cox’s Daredevil although the cause of their conflict is still not known yet. At the end of Echo, he is seen interested in running for the Mayor of New York and it seems he will eventually win the position in the upcoming series.
A new photo from the set shows the first look at an Anti-Vigilante Task Force that Fisk has reportedly developed. The logo specifically shows that they are working under Wilson Fisk who has become Mayor Fisk. This means that he will have a lot of authority and make changes to the socio-political environment of New York and according to a new rumor, he has developed a task force for a very specific reason.
According to The Cosmic Circus (via Spider-Man News on X), Kingpin plans to get rid of any kind of vigilante activity and street-level heroes like Charlie Cox’s Daredevil, Tom Holland‘s Spider-Man, and Hailee Steinfeld’s Kate Bishop. If the reports are true, Kingpin is definitely using all of his new authoritative powers to run New York in his own way.

This is bad news for all of the aforementioned heroes who have been working on the street level and bringing justice to punishable offenses and criminal activity. Fisk’s new force might become the new secondary threat that Daredevil has to deal with in the show. It remains to be seen if this exciting plot point turns out to be true when the show comes out.
Vincent D’Onofrio Is a Huge Fan of The Lead Directors of Daredevil: Born Again
Vincent D’Onofrio‘s Kingpin will have extended screentime and narrative arc compared to his previous MCU appearances in the upcoming Daredevil: Born Again series. The series went through a creative overhaul and Loki season 2 directors came on board as lead directors on the show. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, D’Onofrio revealed that he is a huge fan of the directors’ previous MCU works.
He further expressed his gratitude to the studio for providing the best talents for the show and shaking things up to elevate its narrative. He even thanked Kevin Feige for continuing to support him and Charlie Cox throughout the production. He said,
“I’m a huge fan of those guys, and I talk to them all the time now. I’m so happy that they’re doing this show. I’m just so happy about it. When I heard that, I was like, ‘OK, not only are we switching things up, but the bosses are doing the right thing for us.’ They’ve given us their hottest talent, and that’s pretty cool. So the first thing I did was thank them. I thanked Kevin [Feige] for doing that and sticking with Charlie and I. It’s a pretty amazing thing.”
The studio seems to be going all out to win back fans with their upcoming projects after some underwhelming entries in the past year or two. There is a huge anticipation for Daredevil: Born Again and the studio clearly plans to recreate the magic created by the Netflix Daredevil show. The series will premiere on Disney+ next year.
