Although Pedro Pascal is now an A-lister and among the leading men in Hollywood, there was a time when the actor almost went homeless. Having less than $7 in his bank account, Pascal was nearly driven to poverty, when Buffy the Vampire Slayer offered him an opportunity. Therefore, reflecting upon his role as Eddie in Sarah Michelle Gellar’s show, Pascal recalled how the show saved him financially.
Pedro Pascal Credited Sarah Michelle Gellar’s Show for Saving Him
Pedro Pascal might have found his big break and taken Hollywood by storm in recent years, but there was a time when the actor was barely surviving. Although the Chilean star is currently among the leading men in the entertainment industry, hopping from HBO shows to Disney’s The Mandalorian and is now set to appear in the MCU, there was a time when he was financially broke.
Recalling his initial years in Hollywood, Pedro Pascal reflected upon how he barely had $7 in his bank. Speaking with ET, the actor noted how he almost went homeless had not Sarah Michelle Gellar’s 1997 show saved him. Recalling how his brief role in Buffy the Vampire Slayer saved him financially, the actor credited the show for being a pillar of support when he needed it the most.
“My entry-level lasted about 15 years… We’re talking about being able to see a doctor, getting sick, having surgery, paying my rent. I had less than $7 in my bank account and a residual from Buffy the Vampire Slayer showed up and saved the day and literally is the reason I was able to stay in [Hollywood] and not give up.”
Crediting the show for helping him extend his stay in Hollywood and try further, Pedro Pascal later recalled sweet memories from the show.
Pedro Pascal Recalled His Time from Buffy the Vampire Slayer
The Mandalorian star appeared on the season 4 premiere of Buffy the Vampire Slayer as Eddie. Playing the role of a freshman at UC Sunnydale who bonds with Sarah Michelle Gellar’s Buffy after struggling to adjust to college life, Pedro Pascal developed a strong bond with the actress in real life. Although in the show their friendship was squashed when Eddie turned into a vampire, forcing Buffy to drive a stake through his heart, the duo enjoyed a great friendship, off-camera.
Despite having a brief appearance in the show, Pedro Pascal and Sarah Michelle Gellar continued their friendship in real life. Looking fondly at her time on the show with Pascal, the actress even shared a throwback photo of the duo from the 1999 episode, via her Instagram. Addressing the internet tags of Gellar being referred to as “Mother” and Pascal being netizens’ “Daddy”, the actress captioned the post – “When #Mother met #Father”.
When Pedro Pascal was alerted to the sweet shout-out during his discussion with ET, the actor reflected upon his fond memories of working with Sarah Michelle Gellar on set.
“Sarah Michelle Gellar posted about me? I need to get on the World Wide Web… She had ice cream in her trailer, and she gave me some. I had to have lunch in the vamp mask. I remember everything.” Pascal quipped to ET.
Eventually, after his brief role in Buffy the Vampire Slayer saved him, Pedro Pascal found his way in Hollywood, after more than a decade. Gaining prominence through his role in Game of Thrones, the actor went on to star as Joel Miller in HBO’s The Last of Us, followed by Disney’s The Mandalorian. Now, Pascal is set to appear in MCU’s upcoming Fantastic Four.
