Hemsworth’s antagonistic role is one of the highly anticipated appearances in the movie alongside Anya Taylor-Joy’s Furiosa. The actor, who is known for his Marvel role as Thor, portrayed the villainous warlord with so much conviction.

George Miller Had To Create Dementus’ Backstory

During his interview with Josh Horowitz’s Happy Sad Confused podcast, director George Miller revealed he made a backstory for Chris Hemsworth’s Dementus. “There is. I had to do it,” he confirmed. He also explained how far the initial concept was as compared with what fans saw on the big screen.

Mahiro Maeda, the great Japanese anime artist, did some concept art and he drew Dementus, a different looking Dementus than we see Chris Hemsworth play.

He revealed that Dementushad a teddy bear hooked onto under his costume” and this was the commencement of the story of the teddy bear. The character refers to the item as something that belongs to his own children. Miller had to go back and figure out Dementus’ story to justify why he acts in a certain way.

The director claimed Dementus likes to have a “sense of showman pageantry” as evident in the manner he moves. “He’s one of those flamboyant characters,” Miller added.

The depth of Hemsworth’s role cannot be fully fleshed out in one movie. With Miller revealing he has quite an interesting background that fans would certainly like to see, his statement might be a hint that there is more to tell about Dementus.

Chris Hemsworth Wants To Do Another Thor Movie

Chris Hemsworth is the only Marvel actor from the original Avengers team to get more than a trilogy and with the massive backlash on Thor: Love and Thunder, the actor feels like he needs to make another one to redeem himself. Vanity Fair shared the actor’s thoughts:

He also thinks he owes the audience another Thor after what felt like a whiff with Thor: Love and Thunder. He wants to let himself take his craft more seriously.

Indeed, the Australian star thinks Thor had a lot of fun in the fourth installment that he ended up becoming a comedic relief rather than the God of Thunder. He admitted to the outlet, “I got caught up in the improv and the wackiness, and I became a parody of myself.”

Hemsworth was very much aware that he “didn’t stick the landing” in Thor 4, so if the studio wants another shot at it, he’ll gladly take it.

Moreover, he confessed to wanting to work outside of the superhero and action genres and dive more into serious roles. He particularly wishes to collaborate with veteran directors like Christopher Nolan, Greta Gerwig, Martin Scorsese, and Steven Spielberg.
