Millie Bobby Brown, who is nineteen now, has grown up in the film industry and started pursuing her career when she was eight. She revealed that she was homeschooled and that when she was in school before leaving, she used to be an attentive child, much like Hermoine Granger from Harry Potter.
Millie Bobby Brown’s Life Before And After Stranger Things
Actress Millie Bobby Brown is known for her role as the girl with telekinetic powers in the horror mystery series Stranger Things. The actress had her big breakthrough with the role, has reprised the role in three more seasons, and is set to return for a fifth and final season.
Bobby Brown was the breakout star of the series and was welcomed wholeheartedly by the industry due to her intense performance. Despite starring heavyweights such as Winona Ryder and David Harbour, Bobby Brown still held her own ground and was described by Variety as having ‘the kind of presence some actors take a lifetime to acquire.’
She started her career at the age of eight and her family moved from England to Florida to help her pursue her dream of being an actor. The family fell on hard times during this time as the roles and modeling gigs Bobby Brown received at the time were not enough to keep them afloat. She mentioned in an interview with Daily Mail,
“My older sister left. She didn’t want to do it [America] anymore. It was tears, tears, tears. We went through tough times…I was devastated. I wasn’t getting work. I thought I was done.”
However, the actress soon received the opportunity to audition for Stranger Things and bagged the role. The family, who had moved back to England, had to immediately return.
Millie Bobby Brown Was A Studious Child
From her starring role in the Netflix series when she was twelve, Millie Bobby Brown has come a long way. Though she is still nineteen, she has multiple achievements under her bag already. She has starred in two more Netflix films, the Enola Holmes franchise, for which she reportedly got paid $10 million, making her one of the highest-paid actresses. She is about to release her book Nineteen Steps and has also opened her own beauty line called ‘Florence by Mills’.
When asked if she would ever go to college and earn a degree, Millie Bobby Brown said no and that she had never gotten used to the school system as she started home-schooling at the age of eight. She said in an interview with Heart Radio,
“My fiance [Jake Bongiovi] did. You know he went to college. I just couldn’t imagine doing that…I mean, I left school and went into homeschooling when I was eight. So, I am really not used to that level of socialization.”
She also mentioned that she was a very studious and disciplined kid in class. Mimicking herself in a way similar to Emma Watson’s Hermoine Granger in the Harry Potter series, Bobby Brown indicated that she would always pay attention in class. She said,
“I didn’t like the kid in school that would distract the class. I was one of those kinds of kids who was like, ‘Everyone focus on the teacher.’ So, I like learning by myself.”
Millie Bobby Brown has a number of projects lined up, including the Russo Brothers’ The Electric State.
