"I just think the world of that guy": Jeremy Renner Gets Massive Support From Mayor of Kingstown Creator, Teases Multiple Seasons With Hawkeye Star Amidst Recovery

There are rare moments throughout the entirety of the first season of Mayor of Kingstown when one would pause to appreciate the magnificence of the show. The entire narrative flows in and around Jeremy Renner and his supporting cast so fluidly that the story feels like a solid block of thrill and retribution, let alone a plot of fiction cut up into episodes. Despite the series barely launching its second season, the demand for a third, and a fourth, are too shrill to be ignored. The co-creator of the Paramount+ hit sits to address the future of the Mayor in the years to come.

Jeremy Renner’s Health Takes Precedence For MoK Creators

After the January 1st accident, Jeremy Renner has been confined to his hospital bed undergoing multiple surgeries and a miraculous recovery. But despite the fatalistic injuries left on his body after his run down with the 14,000-pound snow plow, the actor has been actively keeping up with the rest of the world via social media, going as far as promoting the premiere of his show, Mayor of Kingstown‘s Season 2.

But now, with talks of a third season milling about in the industry market, the series co-creator talks about his show’s lead and how the health and healing of Jeremy Renner have occupied the minds of the production ever since receiving the news.

“I heard about it from one of the other producers. I saw it on the news and then [Renner] sent me a video. He’s very funny. I just think the world of that guy and I’m happy he’s surrounded by his family. Anything we can do to help, we will. That’s the biggest thing. He’s like family.”

It is an apparent move for the show to now take a pause, at least until Renner is up and running in full physical form. Being the face of the series (and its titular character) does make it somewhat of a necessity for Sheridan and Dillon to loop Renner into the discussions about future seasons before proceeding with the production.

Born from the minds of Taylor Sheridan and Hugh Dillon, Mayor of Kingstown has had an impact unparalleled in its momentum – nothing less would be expected from Sheridan, who also wrote Sicario, YellowstoneTulsa King, and Wind River. With an accumulated experience garnered from the sets of Sons of Anarchy on which Sheridan worked as an actor, his collaboration with Renner walks the path of gang violence, brutality, political corruption, and chaos.

But the show does what a handful of others successfully manage to pull off – keep the audience drooling for more, irrespective of demography or genre sensibilities. As such, the demands for a third season would be the obvious next step and Hugh Dillon addresses the possibility of renewal.

“Taylor and I have multiple ideas for multiple seasons. If everything went according to plan with Paramount+ and the rest of it, I would think that we’d start in August, September, maybe pre-production in the summer.”

As of the 15th of January, the second season debuted on the streaming platform to a widely receptive audience. The series picks up in the wake of the Kingstown Prison riot and the ensuing chaos left in the midst of a power vacancy created inside the institution’s walls.

Mayor of Kingstown is now streaming on Paramount+ with new episodes coming out every Sunday.
