Marvel Fans Disappointed With The New Cast of Fantastic Four

Rumors have been swirling around the internet about the Fantastic Four‘s casting since 2019 until Marvel decided to go all out for Phase 6, taking on the challenge of rebooting the films as Disney plans to lean heavily into franchises in 2024 and beyond. The MCU fans believed that the cast of the upcoming film had been downgraded and started comparing them to the 2005 film that featured Ioan Gruffudd, Jessica Alba, Chris Evans, and Michael Chilkis. While fans are having mixed reactions to the cast of the rebooted film, some of them were worried about the film’s script and CGI, which was immensely disappointing in the recent Marvel films. However, that may not be the case anymore, as the project is undergoing a massive change.

Fantastic Four Undergoes a Massive Rewriting Process

Marvel’s Fantastic Four is one of the most anticipated upcoming projects in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The film is set to be released under Phase 5 or the Multiverse Saga of the MCU and expected to start production in London in 2024. However, Daniel Richtman, a reliable industry insider, mentioned on X that the film is undergoing a rewrite process.

The film has been delayed again and is currently undergoing a third rewrite process. Even though Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer were initially enlisted as writers in early 2022, Josh Friedman was later hired to rewrite the script of the reboot. While the reboot is constantly getting delayed, ever since it was announced in 2019, the third script will be completed within the next few months.

The rewriting process adds to the series of challenges faced by Marvel Studios following the firing of Jonathan Majors, who was cast as the next supervillain, Kang the Conqueror, in the MCU. Moreover, reports have also stated that fans can expect more such news shortly, as Marvel Studios is expected to continue to follow this pattern for some time.

Fantastic Four is set to release in theatres on July 25, 2025.
