Dune: Part Two is one of the most anticipated films and sequels to be released in 2024. Directed by Denis Villeneuve, the film features an ensemble cast that includes Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, and Zendaya. Ahead of the film’s release, Rebecca Ferguson spoke about her experience of working on the second movie.
During an interview, Ferguson revealed a funny anecdote about trying to catch the attention of co-star Josh Brolin, who was at the time working on a book documenting his experience on the Dune movies. Ferguson revealed she badly wanted to feature in Brolin’s book and made desperate moves to get Brolin’s attention. Here is what Ferguson said about her on-set antics to grasp Brolin’s attention.
Rebecca Ferguson Admits She Did Weird Things to Get Josh Brolin’s Attention
In Dune: Part Two, Rebecca Ferguson reprises her role as Lady Jessica, the mother of Timothée Chalamet’s Paul Atreides. While promoting the movie, Ferguson was interviewed by The Hook, where she discussed being a part of the ensemble cast for Dune: Part Two.
During the interview, Ferguson was also asked whether she was aware of the book co-star Josh Brolin was writing about the production of the Dune movies. Ferguson revealed that not only was she aware, but she was also desperate to feature in it and tried to grasp Brolin’s attention numerous times.
“It was as if I wanted to be in his book so much that I kept on just following him around, pretending to do, like, really weird things.”
Ferguson made the above statement, explaining how she wanted Brolin to write poetry about her that would feature in his book. Aside from Brolin’s poetry, Ferguson also spoke about the artistic talents of her other co-stars, including Zendaya, who clicked monochrome photographs on the film’s sets.
Josh Brolin’s Talks His New Book Documenting the Dune Films
Josh Brolin plays the role of Gurney Halleck in the Dune movies. Aside from his acting talents, Brolin also dabbles in poetry. The Avengers: Endgame actor recently published a book, titled Dune: Exposures, which he co-wrote with the film’s cinematographer Greig Fraser.
The book documents the duo’s experience of working on the Dune movies through poetry. During an interview with Variety, Brolin spoke about how he conceived the book’s poetry as a reaction to Fraser’s photography, his acting experience, and his friendship with Fraser.
“The writing is very different, tonally. Sometimes it’s tongue-in-cheek, sometimes it’s descriptive, sometimes it’s a dialogue and sometimes it’s a poem.”
Given that Brolin’s focus while writing the book was more on his acting and bond with Fraser, it is understandable that Ferguson had a hard time catching her co-star’s attention. Ultimately, Ferguson did achieve her goal of featuring in the book. Dune: Exposures includes an image of Ferguson chilling on the sets of Dune: Part Two between takes, among other intimate photographs of the cast.
Dune: Part Two is slated to be released in the United States on March 1, 2024.
