Recently, while having Complex’s GOAT Talk, the Spider-Man: Homecoming actor was asked about which rapper he considers to be the greatest of all time. Answering the question, Glover said:
“To me? Kanye [West, or simply Ye].”
Continuing, Donald Glover admitted that choosing the rapper, singer, songwriter, record producer, and fashion designer all in one — who recently changed his name officially to ‘Ye’ — was indeed controversial, he also explained why he finds West to be the GOAT.
The Atlanta star said:
“I know that’s controversial. (Laughs) It is, but I feel like we would not have any of the rappers we have now without him.”
Well, despite all the controversy surrounding him lately, it is not a false claim that Ye has indeed influenced multiple other rappers and is considered one of the most influential figures of the rap genre.
Nonetheless, Donald Glover’s recent comment might not only cost him a substantial amount of his Swiftie fan base all the same but quite some other fans as well, thanks to Kanye ‘Ye’ West‘s recent controversial statements.
Donald Glover May Lose More Than Just His Swiftie Fanbase by His Comment
As most are already aware, Taylor Swift and Kanye ‘Ye’ West have had a long raging on-and-off feud going on for almost one and a half decades.
This bad blood notably started back at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, when Ye interrupted Swift on stage after she won the award for Best Female Video for You Belong with Me, to say:
“Yo, Taylor, I’m really happy for you, I’ma let you finish, but Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time!”
Thus, considering how the feud continues to go on even as of this date, Donald Glover might lose quite a few Taylor Swift fans (if not all of them) from his fanbase with his comment holding Ye to be the most superior rapper.
But that’s not all he might lose: Thanks to all the “unplanned” anti-semitic comments he made over the past year, West has lost a massive amount of his fanbase even though he apologized for his actions later on.
Since this controversy surrounding him continues to go on, Kanye ‘Ye’ West might as well turn out to be the reason Donald Glover ends up relinquishing a considerable amount of his fanbase, including both Swifties as well as non-Swifties.
