With its cast of Hollywood elites, this franchise becomes even more undeniably good as it leaves its legacy behind. Even when new characters are added, the old ones are the first to welcome them to the team, just like how Dwayne Johnson was excited to see Charlize Theron join the ranks. But despite his enthusiastic welcome, she might’ve wanted him to be switched out by another Hollywood superstar.

While the original film might’ve started off as a street racing crew trying to dominate the tracks, the recent development of the Fast & Furious franchise into the globe-trotting mega-adventure is something many fans have welcomed with open arms. Therefore, in recent years, the franchise has also welcomed new characters to its ranks, which includes Charlize Theron‘s Cipher, who was enthusiastically welcomed by Dwayne Johnson, who joined the ranks as Luke Hobbs in 2011’s Fast Five.

In one of his Instagram posts in the past, the Black Adam star was excited to see Theron join the ranks of the franchise as a villain. In that post, he shared a photo from the past and captioned what she said when asked how it felt to join the series. He wrote:

“When MTV asked her how she felt about coming in and playing the villain, her response was classic and the reason why I love that woman, she said, “I’m coming to mess that shit up!”

Despite such love and admiration shown by Johnson, the Mad Max: Fury Road star had been recently heard saying that she wanted Hollywood legend Tom Cruise to join the franchise in the upcoming Fast X 2, which has led many to believe that she might be referring to the replacement of Johnosn’s Luke Hobbs, considering that he was nowhere to be seen after Fate of The Furious.

As they say, the past comes to haunt you one day, and Fast X just managed to show how it is affecting the Toretto family as Dom’s past is upon him. Bringing the crew back into the center of souped-up cars and pulse-pounding action, the film manages to bring the insanity back, and this time, the craziness is amped up due to Jason Momoa’s villainous character Dante Reyes. Therefore, the film manages to keep what made the series great at its core, while also taking it to new grounds by bringing both new and familiar faces.
