Tom Cruise’s Latest Stunt Receiving MTV Award

Tom Cruise has yet again put on a daring stunt show for his fans. During the broadcast of the 2023 MTV Movie & TV Awards, Cruise gave an insanely entertaining acceptance speech. He won the best performance in a movie award for his role in the Hollywood blockbuster, Top Gun: Maverick, a sequel to his 1986 hit, Top Gun.

Following the stunt as can be seen in the clip, Cruise again got his name in the headlines. In the clip shared by MTV Movies and Tv Award’s official Twitter handle, the actor received the award in a fighter plane. The video shows Cruise wearing sunglasses and speaking into a headset while the fighter plane was flying high in the sky. His golden popcorn trophy was also perfectly visible in the frame. “Thank you so much for this award,” the actor said.

“I make these films for you. I love you. I love entertaining you. To know how much you enjoy it, how much you appreciate it, there’s just no better feeling.”

Further, the actor also promoted another mega action movie, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One, where he plays the lead, Ethan Hunt. The movie is set to hit theaters on July 12 this year. The actor calls his upcoming movie a “wild ride.”

“You have a wonderful summer. Thank you again for letting me entertain you. It’s an absolute privilege. We’ll see you at the movies,” Cruise added.

Cruise’s daring and unique clip is all over the internet, creating quite a buzz among fans.

The 2023 MTV Awards in a Nutshell

Cruise was nominated alongside some other wonderful actors in the category including Austin Butler (Elvis), Florence Pugh (Don’t Worry Darling), Keke Palmer (Nope), and Michael B. Jordan (Creed III)

Also, his movie, Top Gun: Maverick entered the ceremony leading with the highest nominations for movies this year. The movie was nominated for Best Movie, Best Performance in a Movie (Tom Cruise), Best Hero (Cruise), Best Song (for Lady Gaga’s power ballad Hold My Hand), and in the Best Duo category (for Cruise and Miles Teller). 

Scream VI was awarded as the best movie. Elizabeth Olsen won in the best villain category, and Murder Mystery 2’s lead Adam Sandler received the best comedic performer award.

In the TV section, Netflix show, Stranger Things and HBO’s The Last of Us dominated among others, both with six nominations. The Last of Us won Best Show, Best Hero (Pedro Pascal), and Best Duo (Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey). Joseph Quinn grabbed the breakthrough performance award for his role in Stranger Things. The show also won the Best Kick A*s cast award. Jennifer Coolidge won the Best-Frightened Performance, while best performance in a Show was awarded to Jenna Ortega for her role in the Netflix show Wednesday.

Top Gun: Maverick won one award, yet stole the show with the stunt by Cruise. Directed by Christopher McQuarrie, Cruise’s upcoming movie Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning will be released in two parts. The first part will hit the theatre on 12 July this year and the second part is scheduled to hit the theatre on 28 June 2024.
