In an interview with Nova 96.9’s Fitzy & Wippa, she revealed that the latter is the reason why she decided to have children.

She mentioned,

“I was lucky enough to work my bum off for 20 years. I never wanted babies before until I fell in love with Ryan, and it kind of worked out to where I was 40 and having my first baby. I think I was 42 for the second one, so it worked out in that way that I had a career and then I change my focus to my family.”

She is not the only one who’s grateful for her spouse and kids. Her husband feels lucky to have her in his life.

The Blade Runner actor in an interview with GQ mentioned that he was happy to step back from acting to focus on his personal life. He mentioned that their film together helped him realize that he wanted to start a real family with Mendes.

“And there were moments on The Place Beyond the Pines where we were pretending to be a family, and I didn’t really want it to be pretend anymore. I realized that this would be a life I would be really lucky to have.”

He admitted that he had no plans of being a father until the actress told him great news.

Eva said she was pregnant,” he shared. “I would never want to go back, you know? I’m glad I didn’t have control over my destiny in that way, because it was so much better than I ever had dreamed for myself.”

He took four years hiatus from acting to spend as much time as possible with his family and to enjoy the family life he always wished for with the love of his life.
