In an exclusive interview with Screen Rant, TMNT artist Gavin Smith shared his dream comic project, expressing a strong desire for a collaboration between the Ninja Turtles and Marvel’s Man Without Fear – Daredevil.

“I would like to do a project that I write and draw…. As far as crossovers I’d like to see… that we’d all like to see… I think that’s obvious. We all want to see the Daredevil crossover! Actually… I’ll put that out there as a dream project I’d like to draw.”

Gavin Smith, who recently wrapped up his contributions as the interior artist for IDW’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #140-144, is recognized for his dynamic portrayal of the classic and beloved turtles – Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo, and Raphael. Therefore his wanting to collaborate with Darevil is definitely an interesting proposition.

The roots of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles‘ origin story intertwine with Darevil’s in a very similar way. This is because both involve exposure to mutagenic substances. In the Turtles‘ case, their transformation happened when a blind man narrowly avoided being hit by a truck carrying the mysterious ooze. This parallel origin story with Daredevil contributes to the initial grittiness and darker undertones of the Turtles‘ early adventures, a tone heavily influenced by Frank Miller’s legendary run with Matt Murdock.
