For instance, his iconic portrayal of Lucius Fox in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Trilogy will forever remain one of his best performances to date. Especially the one scene where Freeman proved that he will forever be the boss while bullying one of Bruce Wayne’s employees who was threatening him in an entirely enjoyable moment from the 2008 masterpiece.

Morgan Freeman Ate This Scene From The Dark Knight

Rated a critical 94% on the Tomatometer, Christopher Nolan‘s The Dark Knight from 2008 is easily one of the most commendable masterpieces of all time. Crafted rather immaculately, the film holds some of the most iconic scenes of all time. Out of all of them, one in particular stands out exceptionally well where Lucius Fox had to pull out his bullying flare in front of an employee.

This specific scene in talk features Morgan Freeman‘s Fox having to deal with Coleman Reese, who proves to be one of the biggest nuisances in the entire movie. In this scene, Reese tries to blackmail Fox with the blueprints of the Tumbler and some other off-the-books stuff he discovers from the archives about the Applied Sciences division of Wayne Enterprises.

During this scene, Joshua Harto’s Reese confronts Fox by saying:

You wanted me to do the due diligence on the LSI Holdings deal, again? Well, I found some irregularities. Not with their numbers… with yours. Applied Sciences, the whole division of Wayne Enterprises just disappeared overnight. I went down to the archives and I started pulling some old files.

He then presents a blueprint of the Tumbler to Freeman’s character, asking him in a mocking tone: Don’t tell me you didn’t recognize your baby out there, pancaking cop cars on the evening news? Now, you got the entire R&D department burning through cash, claiming it’s related to cell phones for the army? What are you building for him now, a rocket ship?”

That’s not all. Since Reese believes he has truly laid his hands on something so precious, he also believes he can make some money out of this clever research he did on the Applied Sciences division. Thus, he presents his demand for the same:

I want $10 million a year for the rest of my life.

However, little does Reese know that the move he is pulling is an incredibly amateur one, and Freeman’s Fox holds the perfect response to put him back in his place.

While Christian Bale‘s Bruce Wayne’s employee strutted in all confidence that he was about to make some serious big bucks by bullying Fox, he had no idea who he was trying to go up against with this slight piece of evidence he had unearthed from the archives. And Freeman’s Lucius Fox used that very trait to make him understand how wrong he was.

Responding to him with the most wittily simple response, Fox says:

Let me get this straight. You think that your client, one of the wealthiest, most powerful men in the world, is secretly a vigilante who spends his nights beating criminals to a pulp with his bare hands? And your plan is to blackmail this person? Good luck.

Obviously, as soon as Reese realized the gravity of the situation, his first instinct was to take his evidence and walk away before the person he accused of being a vigilante actually hunted him down and made him realize the mistake he was about to make.

Just like that, as effortlessly as ever, Morgan Freeman pulled off one of his most iconic charms and bullied the employee by simply making him realize the audacity of the situation. Who’s the boss now, huh, Mr. Reese?
