Anna Kendrick might have been a small part of the Twilight franchise, but that does not mean it did not leave a big mark on her life. As the Pitch Perfect star opened up about life on set, the spotlight on Twilight was less than desirable as Kendrick narrated her harrowing experience during the production of the film.
Despite her experience on set, Kendrick was all praises for her colleagues who acted in the film. Twilight as a franchise has its fair share of fans and haters, rivaling even Harry Potter at the peak of its popularity. The films brought in a combined gross of over $3 billion worldwide, making it one of the most lucrative franchises to come out of Hollywood. Despite all this, Kendrick had a few words to say about her experience in the film, and how uncomfortable it was for her.
Anna Kendrick had difficulties shooting Twilight
While promoting her HBO Max series Love Life, Kendrick, in conversation with Vanity Fair, talked about her experience filming the supernatural romance film. She said that she remembered being “cold and miserable” while shooting the film. She added:
“I just remember my converse being completely soaked through, and feeling like you know this is a really good group of people and I’m sure that we would be friends at a different time, but I want to murder everyone,”
Despite this uncomfortable feeling on set, when asked about her famous graduation speech in the film, Kendrick was quick to point any praises towards her co-actor Kristen Stewart, who played Bella Swan, the protagonist of the film. While fans applaud her for the speech in the film, Kendrick often says that they are, in fact, moved by Stewart’s reaction to the speech, rather than the speech itself.
It wasn’t all bad though
While Kendrick remembered the worst parts of her days on set, she also talked about the positives with regard to her filming days. She talked about the way the crew bonded, despite the uncomfortable filming conditions. She goes so far as to compare the situation to that of a traumatic event, calling that the source of the bond that the crew developed. She reflected on her relationship with her costars by saying:
“Although it was also kind of bonding. There was like something about it like you go through some trauma event like you imagine people who survive like a hostage situation, and you’re kind of bonded for life.”
In the interview, Kendrick also detailed her filming experiences in other franchises. The highlights of the conversation involved her talking about her smash hit Pitch Perfect franchise, along with her critically acclaimed film Up in the Air. Kendrick was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for the latter. Kendrick wa forthcoming about how she appraoched each role and what she took away from each project as an actor.
Anna Kendrick is set to reprise her role as Stacey Pilgrim in the upcoming animated series Scott Pilgrim Takes Off.
