Gal Gadot isn’t just Wonder Woman on screen but is actually a wonder woman in real life. After multiple rejections and traveling to and fro from Israel to the USA, she finally managed to make her breakthrough in Hollywood. Despite the language difference and being told she was too masculine to play certain roles, Gadot fiercely made her way through.
When she finally landed the role of Wonder Woman in Zack Snyder’s Snyderverse, her performance even shocked the renowned director, who wasn’t expecting Gadot to leave such an indelible mark on the iconic DC character.
Gal Gadot Surprised Zack Snyder With Her Brilliant Acting Talent
Gal Gadot is an extremely talented actress and we all are aware of it now. When she first landed the role of Wonder Woman, she had her own ideas as to how to play the character. Talking about it, the actress revealed,
“I wanted her to have this attitude. I wanted her to have a smirk when she fights Doomsday. I didn’t want her to be too polished. I wanted to make her a little bit darker, a little bit dirtier.”
It was this smirk in the scene that was totally improvised by Gadot that shocked Zack Snyder. As much as he wanted her to play Wonder Woman on her terms, he was nonetheless left surprised.
“I remember after we did that take, Zack came to me and he said, ‘Did you just have a smirk?’ I said ‘Yeah.’ And he asked, ‘Why? I think I like it, but why?’ ‘Well if he’s gonna mess with her, then she’s gonna mess with him. And she knows she’s gonna win.’”
The Justice League star exclaimed that she really wanted Wonder Woman to be a warrior and love the fight.
Gal Gadot Filled Wonder Woman With The Colors She Wanted
One thing that Gal Gadot was sure of was that she wanted Wonder Woman to be unlike typical female leads. While she wanted her to have typical female-centric characteristics of love, empathy, and care at the same time she wanted her to be badass, smart, and tenacious. In simple words, she wanted her to be the perfect female heroin, and Zack Snyder allowed her to do just that.
“He was very allowing in that he let me color her in with the colors that I thought were right for her.”
She also wanted Wonder Woman to not be just a ‘goody two shoes’.
“You know Wonder Woman, she’s amazing. I love everything that she represents and everything that she stands for. She’s all about love and compassion and truth and justice and equality and she’s a whole lot of woman. For me, it was important that people can relate to her. Being all that, I wanted her not to be too, ah, ‘goody two shoes.’”
Her acting as well as the way Gadot carried the role proves that Zack Snyder was right to cast her in his $873 million movie, Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice.
