Being a horror buff, Sydney Sweeney holds a deep admiration for classics that defined the genre, which involves The Shining, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, and The Silence of the Lambs. While with Immaculate, she cements herself as the genre’s new final girl. The scream queen also shared her desire to tackle characters along the likes of Jack Torrance and Hannibal Lecter.

On asked what her dream roles included as a kid, the actress shared that she always wanted to play crazy monsters, similar to in acclaimed classics like The Shining and The Silence of the Lambs. She told Josh Horowitz:

“Like Silence of the Lambs… The Shining but I wanted like I wanted to be the monster. I was dreaming of crazy characters.”

With the Anyone but You star finally kickstarting her journey in the horror landscape and cementing herself as the genre’s new favorite final girl, we might’ve ourselves a new horror icon in the making.

Sydney Sweeney Couldn’t Stop Gushing Over The Shining

This isn’t the lone time Sweeney has gushed over the brilliance of these films and expressed her desire to helm such roles. When previously asked to name her favorite horror features, the actress narrowed the list down to seven films, which reasonably involved The Shining, which she deemed one of the best the genre has to offer. Impressed by Jack Nicholsan‘s performance and Stanley Kubrick’s overall brilliance with the adaptation of the Stephen King novel, the Sharp Objects star stressed she’d love to play such roles.

She explained:

“Another old classic I love is Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining. I think it’s one of the best horror films ever made. Jack Nicholson’s character is another one that I think, ‘Ooh, as an actor that could be so fun.’ The cinematography and the score are absolutely stunning and beautiful. All of it… Stanley’s a genius and amazing. And I love how elevated the whole entire film feels. It’s a beautiful experience to watch.”

Following Sweeney’s recent career choices, which involved a rom-com and now a gory horror flick, which she helped produce,  it’ll be interesting to see how her career unfolds moving forward.
