In a 2022 interview, Fisher was asked about the nature of her relationship with Baron Cohen, particularly the secret to having a long relationship in Hollywood. In response, Fisher said (via The Mirror):

“After a long tennis match lasting over twenty years, we are finally putting our racquets down. In 2023 we jointly filed to end our marriage.”
Fisher and Baron Cohen made the above statement in a story posted on their personal Instagram accounts. The soon-to-divorce couple also stated they wanted to give their children time to adapt to the change before going public with the news of the separation.
However, Fisher and Baron Cohen did not state a reason for their separation at the time. According to a report, the duo’s divorce is unrelated to Baron Cohen’s current controversy with actress Rebel Wilson. A source stated that the couple had been estranged for almost a year and another revealed they had explored a possible split years prior to the announcement.
