While discussing the role of Isabel Reyes and her fate at the end of the second film, the star confessed that she would love for her character to get an arc in Sicario 3 to take her relationship with Del Toro’s character forward.
Here’s Why Merced Wants To See Sicario 3 Happen
Isabela Merced joined the critically acclaimed Sicario franchise in the 2nd film titled Sicario: Day Of The Soldado which also saw two Marvel stars Benicio Del Toro and Josh Brolin playing the central leads. As the daughter of a Mexican drug lord and the enemy of Del Toro’s character in the crime drama, Merced had a pivotal arc with the Academy Award winner in the film.
While her character is seen to have come a full circle after having entered the Witness Protection Program at the end of the film, Merced believed that there was still scope for Isabel Reyes to play an important part in Sicario 3, especially with regard to her relationship with Del Toro’s Alejandro Gillick, In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the Superman: Legacy actor said,
“Absolutely. I would be very open to that. We spoke about it, and obviously things change. So I don’t know how she would be involved in another Sicario storyline unless they went out of their way to make that happen, but of course, I would love to be a part of [Sicario 3].
Merced went on to confess that working on the film was one of the most memorable and satisfying experiences of her career. She also revealed that the sequel was up there with her favorite movies of all time.
Isabela Merced Is Awestruck By James Gunn

“James Gunn is so creative and he has such a unique style, and whatever he touches, he always adds his own flair to it. And for that reason, I’m very excited. I was directed by him during the [screen] test for this, because I auditioned for this. I got to do [the screen test] with my other castmates, and that was really cool.”
Merced also added that the atmosphere Gunn had created felt utterly professional, with every detail planned to perfection. She elaborated on the DC head’s loyal team who were also responsible for making her audition a wonderful learning experience for her.
