Jon Bernthal became a prominent name in the industry after his involvement in the Netflix-Marvel project, Daredevil. The Fury actor later got his standalone series, The Punisher, which garnered a dedicated fan base. During his appearance on Sirius XM’s Jim and Sam Show in 2017, Bernthal was questioned about the allegations against Kevin Spacey and how they had affected their film, Baby Driver.

Bernthal began by sharing that Spacey’s on-set behavior was far from professional. The Wind River actor mentioned that he had been a fan of the Se7en actor and had even given him a standing ovation for his Broadway play, The Iceman Cometh. However, when he encountered Spacey on the sets of Baby Driver, his opinion of the actor changed. Bernthal revealed on the Jim and Sam Show:

“Going on to that set and working with him, I wasn’t there much, but when I was there, he really rubbed me the wrong way. I thought he was a bit of a bully. I didn’t really care for the way he was behaving toward some of the other people on set.”

Further, Bernthal disclosed that some of Spacey’s interactions with the cast and crew of the film had made the Ford v. Ferrari actor very uncomfortable.

When asked if Spacey’s behavior was s*xual or aggressive, Jon Bernthal responded that it was a mix of both. This confusion put him in a position where he couldn’t intervene in the matter. The Wolf of Wall Street actor added that he would have done something if Spacey had treated a woman in the same manner. Bernthal further added in the show:

“I remember at the time thinking, ‘Man, if that was a woman that he was talking to, I would’ve done something, I would’ve said something’. I was really happy to sort of get out of there for that reason, and I just remember losing a ton of respect for him.”

However, Bernthal made it clear that the incidents he witnessed were in no way comparable to the serious allegations leveled against Spacey. Nonetheless, Bernthal shared that the American Beauty actor had disappointed him as someone he used to look up to. Bernthal told the Jim and Sam Show:

“I think it would be weak of me to sort of pile on about some shit that I don’t know about, but the kind of man he was when I saw him, working with him, made me lose all respect for him and I was enormously disappointed.”

Since the allegations, the Superman Returns actor made headlines with a number of videos posted on his YouTube account. He denied the allegations in the videos while disturbingly playing his character, Francis Underwood from House of Cards. The Horrible Bosses actor also came out as gay following the allegations.
