The recent release of Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon gave shocking twists to the viewers. Snyder fans’ were disappointed with the death of Ray Fisher’s character, Darrian Bloodaxe, and they thought that he was done “dirty” in the film. It’s because he sacrificed himself in the final battle, which came quickly just after his character was introduced.
The film’s narrative also followed the death of another character, who was central to the film’s climax. And after it’s kind of clear that fans won’t get to Fisher again, there’s not any chance of Kai to appear in Part Two as well.
Whether Hunnam’s Kai will feature in Rebel Moon’s Part 2 or not, the actor is definitely up for a spin-off version of his character.
Epic Twist Sparks Charlie Hunnam’s Desire for a Kai Spinoff
Kai’s fate is clear. Even though the Sons of Anarchy star insisted that Kai could still be in Part Two despite his fatal head injury. “Noble gets his skull crushed and falls 2,000 feet on rocks, and he’s alive,” said Hunnam to USA Today. “How do we even know Kai’s dead? We don’t see a body.”
But director Zack Snyder confirms Kai’s big adios. “Oh, yeah, he’s definitely done,” he said.
Looks like there’s no possibility for Kai to revive in the second part. So, two cast members who won’t be returning are Charlie Hunnam and Ray Fisher.
But there’s something that the Hollywood actor would love to see. It’s a “Kai-centric spin-off.” In an interview with GQ, he was asked, “There’s always the chance that we could see Kai outside of Part Two,” because “Snyder has spoken about his desire to expand Rebel Moon into an expansive cinematic universe akin to a Star Wars or an Avatar.” So, “Have they spoken about a Kai-centric spin-off?” To this, the actor replied:
“No, we haven’t. But I really loved Kai. I fell in love with him. And I had the best time just messing around, playing that character. So I’d be up for it.”
So, Hunnam has given a thumbs up, all we need is Snyder’s Rebel Moon spin-off centered on his character, Kai.
How Did Kai Die in Rebel Moon?
Charlie Hunnam’s character, Kai, is important to the story. He was the first that Kora recruits to fight the Imperium. Kai’s knowledge of the galaxy’s underworld is needed for Kora’s quest.
But Kai actually had no intentions of helping the former Imperium soldier (Kora). Even though Kai had a tragic past, he still chose to betray her, so he’s basically an opportunist who secretly planned to selfishly look out for himself. He then tasked Gunnar (the naive man who’s in love with Kora) to kill the rebels, beginning with Kora.
Kai promised him he would spare his life if he killed Kora, but instead, Gunnar flipped the card and killed him. And that’s how, ultimately, the bounty hunter died.
