The actor also dwelled upon the story moving forward without Alan Rickman and said via CBR,

“There’s been a script and our friend Alan Rickman passed away, so the script involving he and I in the whole story disappeared. The story itself was so clever and so fun. I love that crew and I love everything about Galaxy Quest.”

Deadline reported in April 2023 that Galaxy Quest is being adapted into a TV series for Paramount+. There has been no news about the TV series, which has been through various incarnations including one written by Paul Scheer and then Simon Pegg and later Georgia Pritchett.
