Hidetaka Miyazaki’s Elden Ring has a lot of characters in the game, with some being loved more than others. Unfortunately, the exact opposite also stands true, as some of the NPCs are just found to be miserable by those who play the game, and one such name that would ring a bell is Sir Gideon Ofnir himself.

Pretending to be a companion throughout the play, Ofnir is without a doubt one of the most hated characters in the game. Seeking all the knowledge there is in the world, he allegedly stalks our player throughout the game, and what many players might not know, is how he orchestrated the most disturbing genocide to happen in The Lands Between.

How Sir Gideon Ofnir Is Responsible For The Genocide Of Albinaurics In Elden Ring

As summarized by this YouTube short, Albinaurics are not considered to be a part of the golden grace. This is because they were made by human hands, and hence are considered impure and not worthy of grace. However, while their origins might be considered impure, they still believe heaven exists for them at Miquella’s Haligtree, and this is the reason one-half of Haligtree’s Medallion is found with them.

As mentioned before, Sir Gideon Ofnir is tarnished and chases after knowledge, and hence has earned the title of “The All-Knowing“. We get to know through Latenna, one of the few remaining Albinaurics how it was Gideon who wished to obtain the said Medallion and planned the genocide of the Albinaurics to accomplish his goal.

Bearing in mind how Miquella’s Haligtree is a significant part of their belief, it is possible that the players will get to know more about the Albinaurics storyline in the upcoming Shadow of the Erdtree DLC for Elden Ring.

Why We Might Get To Know More About The Albinaurics In The Coming Shadow of the Erdtree DLC

As revealed in the gameplay trailer for the coming Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, the new extension will revolve around the character of Miquella and our journey through the Land of Shadow. The player will need to interact with the character’s hand found hanging out of his cocoon in the Mohgwyn Palace in order to traverse the place.

The reason why we might get to know more about the Albinaurics in the coming DLC is because of how they believed heaven exists for them in the great tree called the Haligtree created by Miquella. The anticipated DLC is scheduled to be released on 21st June, 2024, and has got hundreds of thousands of fans around the globe on the edge of their seats waiting patiently.

Elden Ring is available to purchase on Steam.
