Pedro Pascal, one of the biggest fan favorites when it comes to Hollywood heartthrobs and one of the best actors of all time, is once again on a winning streak of winning fans’ hearts. For someone who’s given some of the most epic performances across multiple genres ranging from action, comedy, and adventure to mystery, crime, and thriller, he hasn’t been all that appreciated with accolades.
But this had to change sometime, and this “sometime” came recently at the 30th Annual SAG Awards when he finally scored the first ever SAG Awards of his life and entire career distributed between film and television. Yet, as satisfying as hearing his name announced, fans were even more in tears as Pedro Pascal almost broke down while receiving the accolade.
Pedro Pascal had the Most Wholesome Reaction to Winning his First SAG Award
This year’s SAG Awards 2024, which marked the 30th annual event for the respective award, was full of surprises and heartwarming reactions. One of these heartwarming reactions was none other than fans’ very own beloved, Pedro Pascal.
In the Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series category, the nominees included Kieran Culkin, Brian Cox, and Matthew Macfadyen for their respective portrayals of Roman Roy, Logan Roy, and Tom Wambsgans in Succession; Billy Crudup for playing Cory Ellison in The Morning Show; and Pedro Pascal for his performance as Joel Miller in The Last of Us.
Out of all these, it was Pascal who proved victorious and ended up taking his first-ever SAG accolade home for his beyond-remarkable portrayal of Joel in HBO’s superhit first season of The Last of Us.
Taking the stage to share one of the most wholesome speeches after winning the award, the Game of Thrones star left all his fans emotional as he said (via Netflix | YouTube):
“This is- This is wrong for a number of reasons. Um, I’m a little drunk. I thought I could get drunk. And, thank you HBO. [Makes a crying face] Uhh. Uhh. Oh, Geez Louise. I’m making a fool of myself, but THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS!”
As the audience cheered him on all the while smiling and laughing at his adorable wholesomeness, Pedro Pascal then went on to thank everyone in the same flabbergasted manner that he was when his name got announced as the winner and when he stepped up onto the stage.
Continuing his speech, he said:
“I’ve been in the union since 1999, so this is an incredible f—ing honor. We’re on Netflix. And, uh, to the nominees, all of you. I can’t remember any of your names right now. To Craig Mazin, Neil Druckmann, Franny, Casey at HBO. It’s very appropriate you’ve given me a job because I grew up watching your network. I have no skills. I have no other interests. So the least you could do is give me a job. Franklin and Sue, you’re with me here tonight. My family is maybe watching; I’m not sure. I’m going to have a panic attack, and I’m going to leave.”
Well, one thing’s for certain: Pedro Pascal managed to give even the speech of a lifetime that would undoubtedly go on to be one of the best reactions at the SAG Awards 2024!

For what it’s worth, there’s only one thing that Pedro Pascal was wrong about in his acceptance speech: “This is wrong for a number of reasons.” No, because it was pretty much damn time that you, my guy, got the true recognition that you’ve been deserving of for so long!
