However, one of the highlights of the trailer is Jackman’s X-Men character, who seems to be so depressed that the 2017 film Logan appears positively bright in contrast, despite its heartbreaking send-off to the iconic superhero.

New Deadpool & Wolverine Trailer Features a Depressed Wolverine

Following his last appearance as the X-Men in the 2017 film Logan, Hugh Jackman is returning to the silver screen as Wolverine alongside Ryan Reynolds in the upcoming film Deadpool & Wolverine. The film has been described as a multiversal adventure of the duo.

And the recently released second trailer of the film shares some more details regarding their multiversal journey. The trailer opens up with Logan seeking solace in a bar, only to be met with rejection from the bartender.

As the trailer progresses, it becomes evident that this version of Wolverine is grappling with profound inner turmoil, even unable to unleash his trademark claws due to past regrets and an unsettling sense of resignation.

“I’m about to lose everything that I’ve ever cared about,” Deadpool tells Wolverine, who replies to him, “Not my f**king problem.” Further into the trailer, it is revealed that this Wolverine variant carries the weight of letting down his entire world, a burden that continues to haunt him.

Desperately needing Wolverine’s assistance to save the world, Deadpool appeals to him to help him as he’s an X-Men, to which Logan dismissively declares, “I’m no hero.” It also offers a tantalizing glimpse of the duo engaging in combat, set to the backdrop of Madonna’s Like a Prayer.

Deadpool & Wolverine Trailer Revealed Emma Corrin’s Villainous Role

Along with a depressed Wolverine and a desperate Deadpool, the trailer of the highly anticipated Marvel film also shared the first official look at the film’s potential villain, Cassandra Nova. Emma Corrin has been rumored to be playing the lead antagonist in the film.

And following a brief appearance in the Super Bowl trailer, the character is seen prominently in the second trailer. “Boys are so silly,” she says in one of the scenes in the trailer, while in the other she showcases her telekinetic abilities in a showdown with Wolverine.

Cassandra Nova, the evil twin of Professor X, shares the same telekinetic powers as Charles Xavier, setting the stage for an epic confrontation with Deadpool and Wolverine in the upcoming film. However, the studio has yet to officially confirm Corrin’s Cassandra Nove as the villain of the film.

Deadpool & Wolverine is set to release on July 26, 2024.
