However, before joining the project, The Crown star did not have too much information about the intricate cinematic universe, as the 28-year-old actress admitted in an interview with Empire. “Hands up, I’m not a Marvel person,” Corrin candidly confessed, before further stating,

“I’ve watched Spider-Man and Black Panther. I was like, ‘Look, you’re gonna have to debrief me into this.’ It’s such an intricate world. There’s so much to it, it’s an absolute mind-f*ck. All the language and the Easter eggs.”

However, as they slowly delved into the franchise and learned more about it, they admitted to enjoying and understanding why people love it so much. “I really understand why it means as much as it does to so many people,” they said, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to be part of such a phenomenon.

Emma Corrin Praised Deadpool’s Meta Approach

During their conversation with Empire, Corrin expressed their enthusiasm about joining the MCU, particularly the Deadpool film series. “It’s a phenomenon, and I feel really lucky to be part of it. Especially Deadpool, because I love the fact that it’s self-aware, and critical of its own inner-workings.”

They also shared that they are excited about portraying a villain, Cassandra Nova, in the upcoming film as it allows them to tap into darker roles. “I feel really excited to play a villain,” they said talking about their villainous role.

The Lady Chatterley’s Lover star further shared, “I haven’t done that, and it’s an itch I want to scratch.” While Corrin is set to portray the villainous Cassandra Nova alongside Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, rumors have suggested that Nova may indeed be the lead antagonist in the upcoming film.
