All-Star Superman is a film that came and went by with powerful performances and a gripping story. Adapted from the comic book series of the same name, it had various voice actors who gave their very best. In most cases, these performances are backed by other works that manage to impress voice directors.

Andrea Romano, the voice director of the film, sought out Christina Hendricks for the role of Lois Lane because of another fan-favorite series.

Christina Hendricks Made Her Way Into All-Star Superman with Another Role

Andrea Romano, during an interview with Comic Mix, explained just what managed to capture her about Christina Hendricks’ performance for All-Star Superman. The actress had never before indulged in voice acting, making the entire experience a first-time thing for her. So the pressure was automatically bigger. Having no previous experience to back her up, Hendricks found another advantage instead.

“I am such an admirer of her work, and I love what she does on Mad Men. It was cute because she was quite nervous coming in with no prior voiceover experience, but her acting instincts are so good, she has the ability to adjust to acting to a microphone as opposed to camera very quickly.”

Romano explained that her work in Mad Men is what grabbed her attention. Hendricks’ work in the series was unusually cute in the voice director’s opinion, making her a good candidate for Lois Lane. Considering that the movie was to see Lois and Clark in a different light, the voice behind Superman’s greatest supporter also had to fit the part accordingly.

Needless to say, Hendricks fit into the role like a glove. The transition from being an actress in front of the camera to one behind the mic was simply mesmerizing.

“She captured everything we were looking for and then some. She was so enthusiastic about the role that she found a way to squeeze the recording into her schedule – right after getting married – and she gave us a terrific Lois Lane. I would use her again in a minute.”

Romano admired her work ethic and the way she managed to navigate through her busy schedule. Hendricks’ dedication to working and adorning Lois Lane was something she was absolutely taken aback by.

It would come as no surprise that Romano was thus open to the idea of collaborating with the actress once again in the future.
