So far, there is no engaging update about the sequel’s progress. Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy confirmed that they have not talked about the subject yet, though they are keeping the door ajar for possibilities.

During his guesting on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, actor Ewan McGregor responded to the question of a potential Obi-Wan Kenobi Season 2:

I have no news to tell. I’m waiting for the call. I don’t know that it’s happening.”

He previously spoke with GQ and expressed interest in working on another installment.

I really hope we do another. If I could do one of these every now and again. I’d just be happy about it.”

As per Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy, the much-anticipated sequel is not yet in talks. She told Variety at the Star Wars Celebration in London:

That is not an active development. But I never say never, because there’s always the possibility. That show was so well-received, and [director] Deborah Chow did such a spectacular job. Ewan McGregor really wants to do another. We’ll turn our attention to that again maybe down the road.”

Well, it was definitely conceived as a standalone story. But I would love to continue with this character. You know, I think there’s certainly more there to explore, and I would be so excited to get to do so.”

While Season 2 remains uncertain, there are still many other Star Wars franchises coming into Disney+. The Acolyte is reportedly coming to the small screen this June, while Daisy Ridley is prepping to reprise her role as Rey in an upcoming film.

Deborah Chow previously revealed via Variety that the show was meant to be a standalone project, but because of its critical success and demand from fans, there might be a chance it will get a sequel.

There’s definitely, I’m sure, more stories to be told. For this one, we really did conceive it as a limited [series]. It really was meant to be beginning, middle, and end. But you never say never. For me, just getting to spend more time with the character and Ewan as that character would be the greatest joy of it.”

With many Star Wars projects currently lined up for the coming years, the creative team behind the franchise might just be as busy as ever. Until Lucasfilm and Disney+ make the official announcement, fans can still cross their fingers to wish for the show’s renewal.
