Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, the upcoming title in the long-running Yakuza series, is releasing on January 26, 2024. Like a Dragon is the first mainline entry in the series, which was developed as a turn-based role-playing title, and while it was a change that put off many long-time players, some embraced it and enjoyed the turn-based gameplay. However, for players who didn’t enjoy the game, a modder has released a mod that turns Like a Dragon into a real-time fighting game.

Like a Dragon introduced a new protagonist, Ichiban Kasuga, and featured a great dramatic story with sub-quests, mini-games, and exciting gameplay that felt new but also brought something fresh to the game. The game’s pivot to turn-based gameplay shocked and put off many, but there is good news: a new mod is available for the game that turns it into a classic Yakuza game.

The mod called Like a Brawler Beta was released by modder Jhrino on Nexus Mods and is a real-time fighting mod that turns the game into a real-time combat action game. The mod allows the protagonist of the game, Ichiban Kasuga, to fight in real-time, and Kasuga is also able to perform new heat actions as well as use several fighting styles to take on his enemies. Once the mod is installed and runs, the game plays similarly to classic Yakuza titles, and it looks pretty good.

Players looking to play the game again before they dive into Infinite Wealth next month can try the game with the mod to get into the groove. Players looking to install the mod need to have Shin Ryu Mod Manager and remember that the mod only supports English and Japanese. The mod is still in the beta phase, and players might encounter any bugs and glitches and have to troubleshoot it.

Infinite Wealth is all set to release next month on January 26 and will also feature a turn-based combat system. It is a single-player game and will feature dual protagonists, Ichiban Kasuga and Kazuma Kiryu, and both characters will have their own story arcs. The story of the game sees Kasuga going to Honolulu, Hawaii, to find his birth mother, whom he did not know was alive, and Kiryu is on vacation after the events of Like a Dragon Gaiden.

Yakuza 6 was the last main game for Kazuma, but he was back in Gaiden and will now be seen in Infinite Wealth. However, the story has revealed that he has cancer, so it might be his last game as a playable character. There are also several characters coming to the game that have been seen before in Kazuma’s life. The two protagonists will be teaming up to take on enemies in turn-based combat with full freedom of movement, placing them strategically to beat opponents.

Infinite Wealth is going to have a much different title than other previous games in the series for several reasons. The series is going from Japan to the United States for the first time and will feature the biggest map in its history, triple the map of Like a Dragon. There are several districts in the game, such as Aloha Beach, the Anaconda Shopping Center, Chinatown, District 5, and more.

There are also several mini-games for players to enjoy, some returning and some new, to get into recreational and relaxing mode. But that’s not all, as the game is also going to be the largest in terms of length compared to any other previous title in the series. The developers have urged players not to try finishing the game in one or two days, as it might affect their health.

It is going to be quite an experience to play Infinite Wealth, and till then, the real-time fighting mod for Like a Dragon is here to keep players busy.
