Mary Kenney, who previously served as the narrative lead on Marvel’s Wolverine, left Insomniac Games after five years at the corporation, overseeing releases of several high-profile titles, and has joined the CD Projekt Red.

What this means for Marvel’s Wolverine remains to be seen, but fans already have their opinions and there aren’t many souls who think this is good news for Insomniac.

Mary Kenney left Insomniac after five successful years at the studio. During this, she was a key in bringing several critically acclaimed titles to life. Most notably, Kenney was one of the writers on Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart.

Both of these games proved successful and it was no surprise that she continued her story with Insomniac Games. Marvel’s Wolverine doesn’t yet have a set PS5 release date, but with her departure, fans are worried that the development has hit a wall.

For context, Marvel’s Wolverine was officially announced in September 2021 during the PlayStation Showcase event, alongside Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. While we have witnessed the eponymous success of Spider-Man 2, the Wolverine game’s future is seemingly thin and hanging by a thread.

It seems like CDPR had another successful take from Insomniac since Marvel’s Wolverine art director Aaron Habibipour moved to CDPR as well.

With Kenney doing a similar thing, fans think that the game, even if released, is going to flop.

Another fan simply added that he thinks the game is going to be a big bust.  Moreover, one user’s thoughts are that Insomniac is moving away from Marvel IP and has realized that new superhero action games are a mistake.

Some fans think the the game is going into development hell, considering how long has it been since it was announced and the departure of the main story developer.

Furthermore, fans aren’t shy from conspiracy theories about Jean Grey’s model for the game leak, suggesting there is something bigger in question than a simple departure.

While many are concerned about the bleak future for Marvel’s Wolverine which is another setback for PS5 this year, there are many who think the main story and art are already finished and Mary is just moving on to a new project.

She has revealed that she has joined Project Orion at CDPR, which is a codename for the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel.

Until Insomniac comes forward with more details on the upcoming Marvel action-adventure video game, fans will only continue with their theories.
