Fans cheered at the heroic return of Dwayne Johnson to WWE even if for a brief moment. Appearing in SmackDown at the start of the year, it seems that The Rock wanted to fulfill his wish of beating Roman Reigns in WrestleMania.
There were a lot of rumors and speculations that Dwayne Johnson might return for one last match and fight Roman Reigns. An outlet on social media even alleged that wrestlers Cody Rhodes and CM Punk were also going to be involved. However, the rumors might be false after all.
Dwayne Johnson Might Not Return To WWE After All!
In a recent segment, CM Punk and Cody Rhodes talked about their journey in WWE. Having an almost mentor-mentee bond, the two decided that at the main event, there wouldn’t be any holdback as neither of them would pull any punches despite training together.
With heavy importance shown to this particular segment, it seems that the storyline of Dwayne Johnson and Roman Reigns will be sidetracked. A recent report alleged that Roman Reigns would either fight Cody Rhodes or Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson at WrestleMania. The rumor further alleged that it could also be a “triple threat” as The Rock, Cody Rhodes, and, Roman Reigns have a showdown.
Another report also theorized that Roman Reigns would fight Dwayne Johnson while Cody Rhodes could face CM Punk. Now, the latest segment of Punk and Rhodes seems to indicate that Roman Reings and Dwayne Johnson’s storyline is out of the box right now. Fans are indeed disappointed with the decision as they wanted to see The Rock vs. Roman Reigns for one final time but it seems that fate has other plans for WWE fans.
Dwayne Johnson On Why He Created A Fast & Furious Spin-Off
Having a rivalry in the WWE is quite different from having a rivalry in Hollywood. Johnson has experienced both firsthand as the actor and Fast & Furious star Vin Diesel had quite a feud. With Diesel wanting a traditional movie and Johnson wanting to create a Fast & Furious spin-off, The Rock revealed in an interview with EW that people had to evolve.
“When you have a franchise that is as successful as the Fast & Furious franchise, the goal, certainly my goal, was always to try and create a scenario where we have as much longevity as we possibly can have.”
He further continued,
“And in that spirit, you have to evolve and you have to spin off and you have to create new characters and new stories, especially when you’re coming off Fast 8, where you have an eight at the end of your title. [Laughs.]”
Well, the actor is quite disheartened after Black Adam failed to make it big at the global box office. Last seen in WWE Smackdown, Dwayne Johnson is currently associated with 11 upcoming projects in various stages of development while the people wait for the return of The People’s Champ in WWE.
