After seeing Millie Bobby Brown’s performance as Eleven in Stranger Things, there weren’t many who weren’t in awe of her talents. Over time, the actress grew up and bagged more and more memorable roles. This includes her portrayal of Sherlock Holmes’ younger sister, who chose the detective life just like her brother.
Apart from the obviously entertaining mysteries seen in both Enola Holmes movies, there was something else fans went gaga over – the chemistry between Millie Bobby Brown and her co-actor Louis Partridge. In the film, the two share a kiss, and the actress had something to say about it. She stated that during rehearsal, she grabbed his face and kissed Louis Partridge which shocked him. While it was supposed to be a cute story, an intimacy coordinator is calling out Millie Bobby Brown for her problematic behavior.
Millie Bobby Brown On Her Kiss with Co-Star
Before we get into how the intimacy coordinator called out Millie Bobby Brown, let’s take a look at the actress’ comments. During an interview, Brown opened up about how during rehearsal she unexpectedly kissed Louis Partridge. Laughing, she described how the actor was shocked and surprised and stated how it was “so cute.”
“Right on the rehearsal I grabbed his face and kissed him and he was like… It was so cute…Really seeing her [Enola] take the lead. And also seeing a girl just make the first move is just really exciting.”
She also talked about how in the scene she had to punch Partridge and that she went absolutely full force on the actor. Brown added that since the two were friends, she was not acting, she was actually “getting him” in the stomach.
“Because Louis is a good friend I just kept punching him, I wasn’t doing stunts, I really was hurting him. By the end of it, he said, ‘Millie can you just fake punch me,’ I was fully just getting him right in the stomach.”
Of course, her comments received some backlash from viewers. However, things got a bit more serious when an intimacy coordinator spared her two cents on the incident, calling out Brown for her questionable actions.
Intimacy Coordinator Reacts to Millie Bobby Brown’s Statement
If this is your first time hearing the term, an intimacy coordinator is someone who makes sure that the actors involved in an intimate scene are okay and comfortable. They also act as a mediator between the actors and the production team.
Intimacy coordinator, Jessica Steinrock, had a lot to say about Brown’s story. She took to TikTok where she reacted to the actress’ video and stated that while she loves Brown, the story is not as cute as she thinks it is.
“Oh no, I love Millie Bobby Brown but this is not the cute story you think it is. I’m sure she and her scene partner have a lot of rapport built up and a great amount of trust, but we should never be surprising anyone during a fight or intimate scene ever. At the end of the day, this basically means she didn’t ask consent to kiss him. And when your scene partner reacts in surprise after you’ve kissed them that means the communication didn’t happen the way it really needs to.”
Steinrock added that even the things that might seem trivial at first can end up escalating. She continued that even though it is a good thing to keep things light and fun, consent is mandatory in all situations.
“Little things like this can escalate over time, and frankly she has more power in that situation than he does because she’s a really well-known star. When we do spicy scenes, we love keeping light, having fun, but consent is mandatory. For the record, I loved Enola Holmes 2, but next time we have to ask consent.”
On one hand, the Internet backed Steinrock’s statement but on the other hand, people were of the belief that she was blowing it all out of proportion. In any case, she sure is right about consent is important.
