*Warning: Contains spoilers for Invincible Season 2*
Season 2 of Invincible has been relentless thus far, to say the least, marking the return of Omni-Man. The mid-season cliffhanger places Omni-Man in captivity and hints at something spine-chilling brewing between Invincible and the Viltrum empire. Interestingly, while the cliffhanger hits hard, devoted comic fans might not feel as much of a sting. Fans are now eagerly anticipating whether Omni-Man will confront his fate because of his unforgettable past actions.
The Complicated Journey of Omni-Man till Invincible Season 2 Part 1
Recapping where things left off in Prime Video’s Invincible, the superhero Mark discovers his father, Omni-Man is an alien and intends to conquer Earth. After brutally defeating the Guardians of the Globe, and despite Omni-Man’s near-victory over Mark, he flees.
And now coming on to the second season’s first part, during the midseason finale, Omni-Man warns his son about the Viltrumites’ relentless pursuit. Before Mark can react, Omni-Man gets captured while the Viltrumites devastate another planet in the galaxy.
Currently many think, as Invincible Season 2, Episode 4, also hinted suggests Omni-Man might get a compelling redeeming arc. Following Season 1’s conclusion where Omni-Man refrains from killing Mark and departs upon Mark’s declaration of care, episodes 3 and 4 of Season 2 delve into Nolan’s whereabouts.
It then revealed that he traveled to Thraxa, saved its people, and was hailed as their king. Embracing his new role, Nolan found solace in protecting Thraxa, a far cry from his earlier intentions to conquer Earth.
What Happens to Omni-Man Post Invincible Season 2 Part 1?
Invincible Season 2, part 2 most probably will explore Omni-Man’s redemption arc, or at least take tiny steps to do so, if it goes the comics’ way, which it has been doing faithfully until now. In the comics, after being imprisoned by the Viltrum Empire, Nolan joins his fellow captive hero Allen the Alien, marking his first genuine superhero friendship.
Nolan’s change of heart towards the Viltrumites, largely influenced by his son Mark, propels his journey to make amends for his past actions throughout the comic series, leaving readers to consider forgiveness.
Omni-Man’s upcoming acts in future Invincible seasons might showcase his genuine effort for a better path. In the comics, he later joins forces with the Coalition of Planets to fight the Viltrum Empire, offering vital strategies to defeat them. Nolan’s actions to safeguard Oliver aka Kid Omni-Man and to break free from the Viltrumite prison might seem self-centered, yet his heroism goes beyond than just mere self-interest.
