From rom-coms to sci-fi to dark action thrillers, Anne Hathaway has won over the hearts of almost all of her viewers through all the star-studded masterpieces she has led in her two-and-a-half-decade-old career. But out of them all, there is one performance of her’s that is yet to be surpassed: That of Princess Mia in The Princess Diaries, one that fans can’t get over even after all these years.
And as it turns out, fans don’t have to get over it either, considering the 41-year-old actress’ latest statement on the film series which seemingly confirmed that the third installment of the saga is in the works. But while fans are happy about this news, there’s something else as well that’s bothering some of them: The chances of this third movie not getting a theatrical release.
Anne Hathaway Seemingly Confirms The Princess Diaries 3
Although almost all of her performances have been better than the ones before, nothing comes close to the magical act Hathaway put on for The Princess Diaries film series. However, after getting the first two films by the early 2000s, fans were met with silence instead of a third film.
However now, after almost two decades since the last movie from the saga, it seems that the wait is finally over. This comes after Anne Hathaway‘s recent comment on the third film of the movie series that fans had been looking forward to for so long.
During a recent interview with V Magazine, the Interstellar actress shared the prospect of the same as she said:
“We’re in a good place,” Hathaway said. “That’s all I can say. There’s nothing to announce yet. But we’re in a good place.”
Almost half a decade ago, during an appearance on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen, Hathaway even shared that the third film has a script. She said:
“There is a script for the third movie. There is a script,” she confirmed. “I want to do it. Julie [Andrews]wants to do it. Debra Martin Chase, our producer, wants to do it. We all really want it to happen.”
But while she admitted back then that they were “working on it,” she also mentioned how they “don’t want to deliver anything until it’s ready” because “we love it just as much as you guys love it,” and want it to be “perfect.” Considering that, it seems they have finally curated something good for it.
However, as much as this news sounds appealing to fans, some of them seem to have a different concern for the film: They want to make sure it doesn’t go straight to streaming on Disney+. As one of them mentioned on X:

Obviously, the factor about the release of the third installment of the saga is yet to be confirmed by Disney. But other than that, fans are thoroughly enjoying this news to the core, and are promising to be seated when the film arrives.
