Bradley Cooper is a veteran actor known for portraying several iconic characters throughout his Hollywood career. Finding fame as an actor and now as a director too with his 2023 film Maestro, Cooper seems to be making a big name in Hollywood like other actors.
In a recent interview, Cooper was asked about a career-defining moment. Naming an odd choice, the actor revealed that when he saw the performance of Vince Vaughn in Wedding Crashers, that’s when he knew the level of freedom and willingness to fail that he wanted!
Bradley Cooper Was Inspired By Vince Vaughn’s Freedom!
Starring as the antagonistic boyfriend of Rachel McAdams’ character in the 2005 film, Bradley Cooper saw Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson wreak havoc on the sets of Wedding Crashers. Being an R-rated comedy, the film essentially redefined the genre and fans loved it.
But more importantly, Bradley Cooper saw a sense of freedom in Vince Vaughn’s persona that he had never seen before. In a recent online call by SAG-AFTRA where all the nominees for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role, Cooper sat alongside Cillian Murphy, Colman Domingo, Paul Giamatti, and, Jeffrey Wright to chat. During their conversation, Cooper mentioned the 2005 film and how it changed him forever.
“Up until that point, I was always just trying to get it right on camera. Be present and get it right. I’m watching Vince Vaughn destroy a scene, just crush it, and then he wants another take. It was the scene where the grandmother is shooting him, takes the gun out and he’s running out. He’s just like, ‘I want to do another one.’ In front of everyone…this huge crew and lights and it’s so nerve-wracking…and it was his willingness to fail.”
He further continued,
“Watching Vince Vaughn…this huge tough guy, funniest guy, quickest guy…I was just in awe of this human, this man just failing, just willing to try anything. At some point he was just scatting and caught onto this thing and was doing this song. I loved seeing it, but clearly it wasn’t working. But it didn’t even matter. It was all of us watching this artist just explore with complete abandon.”
And it seems that this reckless abandon is what inspired Bradley Cooper to star and direct the 2023 film Maestro. Although portraying the serious role of Leonard Bernstein, Cooper is best known for his work as Phil in The Hangover franchise but will there be a 4th part?
Is The Hangover 4 In Development?
As the actors continued to talk about their projects and inspirations, Bradley Cooper was asked whether he would entertain the idea of joining The Hangover 4. In an instant, the actor proclaimed his love for the franchise and stated that he would join it in a heartbeat.
“I would probably do ‘Hangover 4’ in an instant. Just because I love Todd [Phillips], I love Zach [Galifianakis], I love Ed [Helms] so much, I probably would.”
The twist in the tale, however, is that Bradley Cooper knows that director Todd Phillips will not return to the franchise.
“I don’t think Todd’s ever going to do that.”
Well, as far as Bradley Cooper goes, he is extremely happy with the nominations that he has received for his film Maestro alongside dating Gigi Hadid. Starring alongside Carey Mulligan, the 2023 film is available to stream on Netflix in the U.S.
