Following a long break from acting, when Eddie Murphy made his comeback with Dolemite Is My Name, it was a great success. In his latest, The Candy Cane Lane, the 51-year-old Tracee Ellis Ross plays his wife Carol Carver. However, their dynamic looks so good, that it doesn’t feel like the duo is working for the first time.

In an interview with the Associated Press, Eddie Murphy said about his co-star that he had never bonded so well with anybody before. Their chemistry was exceptional in the movie.

“She’s a comedian and a great actress and all that came together. And she improvises … you don’t even expect to click with an actor, Most of the time, you have a working relationship and there is no clicking — but there’s a great deal of clicking on this one. It just clicked.”

Tracee Ellis Ross gained prominence for her role as Dr. Rainbow Johnson in the ABC series Black-ish. It even led her to win a Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Television Series. She was equally excited about the movie as Murphy and was of the notion that kids would love The Candy Cane Lane due to the magical and fantastical themes in it.

Will Eddie Murphy return to stand-up comedy?

Eddie Murphy planned on returning to stand-up comedy before the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the worldwide problem didn’t lead him to return to the art and instead, he chose to return to the movies. The actor who was thought to be finished made a banger of a comeback with Dolemite is My Name.

Besides the 2019 movie, Eddie Murphy also returned with Coming 2 America. When asked about his return to stand-up, he didn’t confirm anything but neither ruled out the possibility as well- “It’s not something that I would rule out and say I would never do.”

It is unclear when the SNL fame return to comedy but Eddie Murphy and Tracee Ellis Ross have hoped that The Candy Cane 8Lane will also attain the status of iconic Christmas films. Ross was of the notion that they had created a Christmas classic.
