Actor Kieran Culkin pulled a real-life Roman moment when he received his Primetime Emmy Award for Best Actor for his performance in the HBO show Succession. When the actor went on stage to accept his award, he reportedly blurted out to his wife that he wanted more kids while on stage, which put her in a weird predicament.
Culkin has two kids with his wife Jazz Charton after they got married in 2012. He mentioned later that the couple had discussed having more kids after his wife told him they would- if he won the Emmy after winning the Golden Globe for the same role. However, Culkin reportedly regretted his comments on stage and said that he was sorry for it.
Kieran Culkin’s Comments On His Wife During the Emmys
Kieran Culkin finally got his due when he won big at this year’s Awards season. The actor won both the Golden Globe and the Primetime Emmy Awards for Best Actor for his role as Romulus Roy in the HBO drama series Succession. The final season of the show saw the Roy family trying to gain control of the company amidst a coup from the three Roy children.
Culkin is known for his wit and humor even off-screen and made many self-referential jokes about winning the award instead of Internet darling Pedro Pascal. However, at the Emmys, he pointed toward his wife Jazz Charton and reminded her of a bet the two had when the actor reportedly asked for more children. According to Variety, he said,
“Thank you for sharing your life with me and giving me two amazing kids, Kinsey Sioux and Wilder Wolf. I love you so many and so much. And Jazz, I want more. You said maybe if I win!”
Kieran Culkin reportedly clarified his comments about wanting more children after the Awards show. Culkin mentioned that he wanted more kids and that the couple were discussing it. He mentioned to People that his wife said that they could if he won the Emmy,
“I’ve been asking for a while…Jazz said, ‘Maybe if you win the Emmy’. I didn’t bring it up for months, and then when I won the Globe, I said, ‘Do you remember what you said?’ And she was like, ‘What? No. What did I say? I don’t remember this.’”
Culkin then went on to say that after he brought the topic after his Golden Globe win his wife was nervous for a week leading up to the Emmy Awards.
Kieran Culkin Regrets His Public Wish For a Child
Kieran Culkin reportedly regretted his comments on asking his wife for more kids on the Emmys stage. Sources close to the Succession star mentioned that he did not want to discuss their plans in public like that and that it was a spur of the moment for him to blur out his wish on the Emmys stage. According to OK Magazine, the source said,
“Kieran wants more kids and has been asking Jazz for a while now…[he] has always wanted a big family like the one in which he was raised…Kieran kind of regrets saying that out loud. It just flew out of his mouth. But it got Jazz’s attention.”
Kieran Culkin and Jazz Charton reportedly got married in 2013 while they were on a road trip in Iowa after meeting at a bar in 2012. They had their first child, daughter Kinsey Sioux in 2019 while they welcomed their son Wilder Wolf in 2021. Culkin grew up in a big family and had six siblings including Home Alone star Macaulay Culkin and Signs star Rory Culkin.
Kieran Culkin mentioned that he regretted his public outburst of wanting more kids and that it was not fair for his wife Jazz Charton to have undergone that. He said,
“Instead of just talking to her in private like a human, I just blasted her on stage, which was very rude. And that’s it. That’s the whole story. Anyway, the end.”
However, the plan seemed to have worked as the couple was reportedly on board for trying for another child after Culkin’s big Awards win.
