While Dynevor received very positive reviews for her role in the film, she revealed that a lot of the themes that the director touched upon, did not appeal to male audiences. In an interview with Variety, the Bridgerton actor spoke about how many men who saw the film, felt that they were stereotyped to be the misogynistic wrong-doers in most cases.

“Seeing the way men reacted to the film versus women was very interesting. It made me laugh that men felt very strongly about how they were being depicted badly.”

Despite these criticisms for the film which were similar to what Greta Gerwig faced with her blockbuster Barbie, Dynevor believed that Fair Play was a courageous project that did not shy away from shedding light on harsh societal truths.
