Roman Reigns and the Rock have been trash-talking and undermining Cody Rhodes leading up to their two-night WrestleMania matches. The Bloodline cousins faced Rhodes and Rollins on Night 1 and emerged victorious, leading to an almost impossible task for Rhodes on Night 2. The Tribal Chief was all the more confident that he would defend his Undisputed WWE Universal Championship title.
However, Rhodes shockingly managed to beat Reigns amidst all of the disruptions from other members of the Bloodline on Night 2. While fans of Rhodes are extremely happy for the American Nightmare as he got to finish his story, Reigns’ fans blame his grudge against Rollins for his devastating loss against Rhodes.
Fans Believe Roman Reigns’ Grudge Against Seth Rollins Led To His WrestleMania Loss
Roman Reigns‘ rivalry with Seth Rollins is an integral part of his overall feud with Cody Rhodes. The former members of the popular WWE team The Shield. Rollins infamously betrayed the once-dominant team back in 2014, when he sided with Triple H and the Authority (via The Sportster).
The rivalry between the Shield members including Dean Ambrose escalated in the 2016 Money in the Bank match between Reigns and Rollins. Rollins had already won the match and that was when Ambrose took advantage and cashed in the Money in the Bank, being crowned the WWE World Heavyweight Champion.
This leads to the recent lead-up to WrestleMania XL, where Rollins sided with Rhodes against the Bloodline. While the Bloodline won on Night 1, Rhodes overcame all odds to win Night 2. Fans are blaming Reigns’ inability to let go of his personal conflict with Rollins that led to his devastating loss against Rhodes, where he lost his title which he held for 1316 days. Rollins came in to help Rhodes again on Night 2 but got knocked out by a Superman punch by Reigns when he tried to hit the Rock with a chair. Rhodes was very focused on inflicting pain on Rollins, and this caused him to be defeated as Rhodes caught him off guard and delivered three Cross Rhodes for the win.
Fans are Overwhelmed with Cody Rhodes Finally Finishing His Story
After last night’s disastrous loss, it seemed very unlikely for Cody Rhodes to emerge victorious as his much-anticipated match with Roman Reigns on Night 2 would be under Bloodline Rules. Members like Jimmy Uso, The Rock, and Solo Sikoa made things impossible for Rhodes to finish his story during the match (via USA Today).
However, Rhodes received unlikely and surprising help from WWE superstars like Seth Rollins, John Cena, The Undertaker, and even Jey Uso. After a grueling match with undesirable circumstances, Rhodes won the Universal WWE championship title, which Reigns held for a long time, finally finishing his story since his loss at WrestleMania 39.
