Johnson learned something essential from her time in the film. On top of this, the actress also revealed some very interesting information about when she thinks the film went south. It would seem that the project that she signed on to and the script that she agreed to was much different than the one that was released to the public

Madame Web Became Unrecognizable To Dakota Johnson

Dakota Johnson gave an interview with Bustle where she went into great detail about all aspects of Madame Web. She was specifically asked about why she thinks the film is getting as much hate as it is. The actress revealed that she completely understands why audiences dislike the film and do not blame them for ‘ripping it to shreds’.

“But sometimes in this industry, you sign on to something, and it’s one thing and then as you’re making it, it becomes a completely different thing, and you’re like, Wait, what? But it was a real learning experience, and of course it’s not nice to be a part of something that’s ripped to shreds, but I can’t say that I don’t understand.” said Johnson.

She elaborated on this, revealing that the original script of the movie that made her want to be a part of it, was a lot different from the one she ended up signing on to. Blaming committees that were involved, she thinks projects can become completely different things when there is a group of people who are more focused on finances and numbers rather than the art that is being created.

Dakota Johnson Could Not Even Talk About The Changes

Dakota Johnson even said something similar to The Wrap, talking about how there were drastic changes made to the original script of Madame Web, things that she could not even talk about. It would seem, however, that there were some things she could mentioned as she revealed that there were many changes made in camera angles and how the film was to be shot.

“There were drastic changes,” Johnson told. “And I can’t even tell you what they were.”

“It added so many different camera set-ups, like triple the amount of work,” she explained. “And it was very complex, and there’s only like minor differences between each version of the same scene, so it was like puzzle pieces, and really paying attention to what moment we’re in, and what angle we’re in, and continuity and things like that.”

Set-ups were different and the amount of work that everyone had to do was much more than the originally agreed upon. The changes were so complex that she often found it difficult to keep track of what shot she was in. While many would think such details to be inconsequential, camera work can easily make or break a film. Unfortunately, in this scenario, it broke the film.
